I have to pick between a 4.5 or a 6 inch wide wheel for the 700-16 bias plys for the rear of my '34 project. What are you guys running and do you have pictures?

    Thanks, -Abone.

  2. 4.5 is the way to go. Thats the width of wheel those tires would have come on when they were on new cars. 6 will work but pulls the tire out a little, it doesn't look as good as the 4.5.

I agree. I ran 7.00 x 16 Firestone bias ply on 4.5” wheels on my sedan for years. Had a nice looking sidewall.

  4. he tires below on the rear of my 39 are 7.0 16 Firestones on original for 16 X 4.5 Ford rims.

  6. Good choice. I ran 4.5” with 750s and liked it

    I’ll be the contrarian.
Hate the look of sidewalls bending or going in towards rim.
It’s like putting N50’s on an eight inch rim.
    Nope, nope, nope.
16-6’s with these WW 700-16s looked ‘right’ to me.
5.5” wide would have been better, but beggars can’t be choosers.
Note: Looking at the 39 above, the fronts look so much better than the rears.
