I decided to refinish my wheels today.

Problem is, when I had the 15 year old tires pulled off, they were in terrible shape.

2 of them were ruined when we pulled them off.

The plan was to lower this truck about 3 inches.

The tire that were on it were 235/75/15,

But I'm probably just going to go ahead and spend the extra money on a little lower profile set of White Walls.

I figure if I'm buying new tires anyway, I might as well do it right...

So.... Stock wheels (15x6 I think)

Plans are a 3" axel in the front and a 2 or 3 inch drop in the back.

    What size tires?

    Recommendations? Photos?

235/75 is a pretty good size to fill the back unless you are going to slam it. I had a '50 Chevy pickup that was really low and ran 205/75/15's on it and they fit good. I wouldn't go much shorter than that though. You could maybe get by with 70 series rubber but anything lower profile would just look cheesy. The tallest profile around in 15" radials today is 75, most bias plies were 83 or 90 series. Old cars need side wall.

I was thinking a 70 or 75 series would be too tall. I ***umed a 60 series something0of0another for the front...

I can't see your pics so I will just throw this out there.

I just looked at a '48 Ford Panel that was dropped a few inches all around with mono-leafs. It had 215/75R15 on front and 225/75R15 on the back and looked really good. Just keep in mind that you could go wider on the back and still have a decently tall sidewall (like 235/70R15).

when I originally got the truck:
    had 15X10 rear w/295/60 and 15X8 front w/245/60
they looked OK but it had 'armstrong' steering

and here's my old parts truck with 235/75 all around on 1980's wheels w/70's Merc caps

That's some good info, but yours hasn't been lowered any, has it?

    Thanks a lot Mark!
