Sounds like you're just hangin' with the wrong guys....
Most musclecars guys I've met are just like "most" hotrodders...just wanna go fast and aren't so "hung up" on "correctness"....
I had more fun in my Charger when it was in primer and I drove it hard, everywhere.:D

Musclecars will always be a big part of my "car" life.....

I know what you guys mean. The more I get into the old hot rods, the less apeal the newer stuff has. I like all kinds of cars, but if it's stock it is BORING!
I went to an all Duece show a while back and there were over 50 '32 Fords and no two were alike. That's what is cool about hot rods.

I'll always like the Muscle Cars as well. But when I go to car shows now, I am looking at the 50's cars or Rods. As for 60's cars, I would rather see the cars that were not Muscle Cars rather than see another Chevelle. I like the odd-balls or the family cars or Wagons.

But I suppose if you want to give me a Hemi Cuda or a Road Runner, I would not turn it down........

  4. Perfection is not fun, and perfection is in total conflict of what these cars are supposed to be about. My turning point was a '60 Caddy that I thought was a sorry attempt to look like a '57 Chevy. I now have a '60 Caddy and someday will have 2 more.

i always liked traditional styled espically resto rods back in the 70s & on up.
BUT i also dig chevelles & muscle, short box chev pickups,
    tri 5 chevys......
i just plain 'like what i like!

i see these guys that pull their muscle cars apart in their garages & do a 'complete resto they work their asses off & make everything perfect & correct. ''thats hard to do'' i respect those guys & their cars!!

anybody that likes cars/trucks/vehicles PERIOD! are good guys in my book. not ONE group is better than the other!!!!!!!!

some of us work really hard on our imports, not all of us are driving ugly ones with big wings and neon paint, i've got ten years in one right now, and it sure as hell doesn't sound like a weedwacker. instead of trashing someones car, lets try to get along with each other and try to realize not all of us like the same cars. I like hot rods myself, actually i base how much i like something on how much work someone has done to it, or if they have done something different. had a 70's era z car at the moultrie meet that had been converted to a targa top, complete with trunk and the entire deal. the metal work was perfect. now is there something wrong with that guys car because of where it's made? there is no telling how many hours of work went into that car. ok end of rant. and yes there were way to many camaros

That's it, do they really like cars/engines/motorcycles? or are they here to feed their ego?
Hungry egos are always annoying. Real Gearheads are cool,...rich or poor.

  11. Kerry, I'm with ya!!! We are both on the station wagon forum. I like wagons and older pickups, plus I like my '66 Coronet 500 that I've had for nearly 30 years. I like traditional builds, but I also like '70s barges like the big New Yorkers and Imperials, too! My Terraplane is considered a resto, although it's getting a split manifold and duals with Smithy's soon, an dmaybe some chrome reverse wheels to dress it up over the stock steelies!

I spend a whole lot more time here than I do any of the other car and truck forums, period!

    I'm following you here.

I still enjoy wrenching on my Plymouth, but I feel like there is only so far I can go. I'm not into the numbers matching bullshit by any means, but once its done its done.

With a hot rod I feel that there is an endless amount of options and things to do to it whereas a Muscle Car can get bastardized really quickly trying to do the same thing.

Also, A TON of more pride is felt with a hot rod, "anyone that knows anything knows that" :D

i come to enjoy the cars, i went to the trouble to seek out the rods and different cars this year, it just irks me when someone puts down an entire group of cars just because if where they were made. I never trash someone elses cars. if they work hard on it,it may not be perfect, but i respect the effort they put into it. that young guy at the show, may have been his first show, he might have worked hard on that car.

ive got a terrible disease, in my brain is were i bleed----i like them all, come to think of it, i have them all. (2008 bmw, two 1929 model A, 1937 Zephyr three window, 1950 chevy convert, 1967 RSSS twenty factory option's). not trying to brag, just want to show you can love evry brand and style. so learn to do the work your self, buy it as junk, and then fix it up, and you two can have them all.

  18. And to think, a "FRIEND" sent me to this site a few years back. He knew I was looking for MEL parts and he knew of Unclescooby on here. I knew nothing of these old cars. Been stuck here ever since............. :)

I can find something to like on cars other than hot rods, but I liked hot rods more. I guess AG did it for me. There's an "appetite for destruction" look in hot rods. The average person sees a hot rod and they know something special is going on. They may not get it, but they know it's way different than anything they will see for a while. A lot of people who wanted to check out my car, didn't think it was legal to drive a hot rod on the street. They're the folks who go to a car show and think the hot rods are for display only.

Mustangs and Camaros are cool, but they look and seem "safe" to the average joe. A nice full shell. Just like a regular car. But people see a hot rod with the hood off, no fenders, a primative looking suspension and they are in awe. They know you can't just walk into a dealership and get one.

Special. A world unto itself and I'm glad I was finally able to step into it.

The same thing happened to me several years, sold my nice cars, bought a 63 1/2 Galaxie for super cheap, slapped a rattle can paint job in flat black and bright red on it, dug up an old set Rocket mags and never had more fun with any other car I've owned

  29. I agree my taste has matured...I've gone through many different car types, from show queens, to big land brages etc and now I'm discovering the old rods.....love 'em all but the appeal of the "hot rod" and the fact that you can go any direction with the car is what appeals to me more now.
