I picked the dumb name of 54 bomb cause I have a 1954 Bel-air and it doesnt look all that great now, I also really like the US Bombs they are a great band, Im sorry I wasnt thinking the traditional lowrider use of the word bomb. So there its is.

    Gang-

Since someone brought up the subject of "HAMB" - or "screen" names, I'd like to ask why we are using them at all. I suppose I missed some cool thing from the "early days" of the HAMB that led to their use, but frankly I find these aliases sort of silly, and even a bit of a pain in the ass.

What's the deal anyway? Are we hiding from someone (well OK, I'm sure SOME of us actually are - LOL)? About all these names do for me is to confuse things.

I've attended both of the HAMB drags (and met up with HAMBERs elsewhere on occassion), and instead of putting a name with a face, I've left trying to put TWO names to every face. By the time I get back home, I've got them all mixed up again. What's the point?

Maybe it's just a sign of poor memory associated with advancing age, but I just don't get it.

Oh yeah. While I'm ranting - I feel the same about the goofy shit lots of HAMBers post in thier personal information. It might be cute and clever, but why bother at all? If you don't want anyone to know how to phone you (aren't some things just a lot simpler to talk about directly, instead of having to "keyboard" back and forth on line?), or where the hell you live - just leave the space blank. It would be nice to go there and be able to tell if so-and-so is located within driving distance, etc.

Anyways, it's not all that big a deal. Just curious if anybody else feels the same?

BTW - My name is Stan and I'm building an RPU with a 292 C.I. Chevy inline motor.

Hmm... a chance for the long explanation. From age 5 I alway said my first car would be a cadillac. At age 16 I lined up my first car, a 50 cad coupe, but ma said no. So.. I drove the family wagon. Hence Caddy Lack. At 19 I lined up a real nice 95 eldorado. It was sold out from under me while I went to the bank. Once again.. Caddy Lack. Then I found this great 60 sedan. Found out how to get it, and was waitin on the dough. My wife totalled my buick, so the insurance money from that was my last payment, and I bought my baby. I started workin as a temp at a large business in Raleigh, and there were like 15 chris's in that office. Every one of em had a nickname. So.. when the boss saw me show up the next day in my ole caddy, he called me Cadillac. I figured spelling it the way I do would be more interesting. The man part.. just frum that cheezy movie. And now.. I'm a father, so my friends refer to me as the Caddy Daddy. It werks.

My truck is an orange 54 chevrolet. I didn't really give it much thought.

I saw someone's name was orange52 the other day. He or she has 47 and 52 chevy trucks.

I have 53 and 54 chevy trucks. That's a strange coincidence. I wonder if his truck is orange too.

I don't really care. My 53 is black. Maybe I'll start a new profile and call myself black53 or maybe antiorange.

well i read a lot of Marquis-de sades books and am into heavy Betty page and like girls in Bondage leather.Yup i'm a real perv so my mates called me marqee de sade at first (the sad tent) as in camping tent after getting caught out in a heavy storm with a single skin tent.Anyway upshot was i got very wet and looked sad and as i was at a Bondage weekend it kinda stuck for a while then they shortened it to marqee then one drunk nite still shorter to Marq and it stuck .Funny really as my name is Paul and i'm not all that pervy just a tiny bit deviant.Always been into hotrods and bondage kinda goes with rock n roll............Marq

    Ahright, I'll bite.

Mine came from a really bad pronunciation of my name over the company intercom at my job when I was in High School. Said intercom was of such quality that it made the drive-thru speaker at Happy Burger sound like digital surround sound. A couple of the other people that worked there swore it sounded like they were paging "Mud Slide", which sounds nothing like my real name, which is Mike Shoaf. I got called Mud Slide for about a week till it got shortened to just "Slide". Then the name just sorta followed me.

At first, I was going to complain about ressurecting this thread. (The HAMB nickname of this thread should be Lazarus.)

My HAMB handle Deuce Rails comes from the tracks made by the twin blades of my snow sled. (Nickname: Rosebud.)

  12. When I’m work in Phoenix 2003 I went to San Diego (Carlsbad) and bought a 53 F100, that’s been sitting on a park for 6 years. I fix the brakes and some small things and it worked great for me in Phoenix. My wife named the truck Flatred when she visited me after that I got a license plate with flatred . I toke the truck to Sweden and gave it to my wife, she loves the truck but says she need side windows. In Phoenix it was so nice weather so I forget the weather in Sweden. This year I’m going to fix the windows.

    Later Lars.

  30. Hello Cherry

Just a dumb question, but do you still have the flattie in the truck, there was not so many F100 -53 that still got their stock engines in the front when I was in the US.
