I picked up an edelbrock carb to stick in my F100 and everything inside that is brass is corroded. I don't want to use CLR or anything since it's soft..but what can I use? My finger and carb cleaner isn't taking it off and I don't want to put it back together like that. Any suggestions?

I sometimes use household Lime Away. Or there's a "naval jelly stuff" for aluminum that works.

Thanks! I'll give white vinegar a shot tomorrow evening and see how it turns out.

I've used an ultra sonic cleaner in the past. They are great. Throw your parts in with some warm water and vinegar, and they look as good as new inside 30 minutes. The best part is there is no scrubbing. You can stick them in, turn it on and go have a beer. I know HF has one big enough to fit a carb for like $70 before your 20% coupon.

I usually use maroon Scotchbrite on the brass parts. When I'm really bored, I follow that with Brasso ...... shines like a new dime.
If the floats are really corroded, I'd float them in some gas to be sure they float.

Good old ethanol strikes again! Just recently did a rebuild on one I soaked the insides with PB Blaster and let it sit over night it turned the scaly snowing looking crap to a mush that aerosol Carb cleaner could spray off. Some parts were then buffed with 000 steel wool.
