Uh, you aren't helping the image. Danville is about one hour WEST of Modesto.

Ya we are talking about going to Yosemite. We went last year, it was awesome. I looks like everyone wants to go to San Francisco on Saturday.

  4. Not much to go and do and see from an outsider's perspective, but if you know where to go and who to see... it's a "car guy" town in every respect of the phrase.

Sure it may not be the place for Rat Rod Traditional Hot Rodding... but there are hot rods, race cars... cars in garages and private collections all over that town.

... that aside, I would suggest taking your Stroker or ****oose down to Dry Lake and hit the Widowmaker... maybe grab a Slurpee on your way back home... that's what I used to do.

    Sam.

A day trip to Calaveras Big Trees is a real treat too.

A trip to Columbia (where up untill a couple of years ago still had a working gold mine)
    A trip to Sonora

Just a few of the many places you can go and come back in one day.

For anyone living in Modesto to say there's nothing to do but crack has to be on crack themselves...get a life.

When I stop and think about it this really is a pretty good car town. Sure they're mostly billet queens but there are alot of nice stockers also. There is also a conseignment shop in Turlock called Alemida's (sp?) with some finished cars. Usually has a few real Cobra's and other rare stuff. I think at one time he had a Thunderbolt in there. All the cars are real expensive but hey, he doesn't know your not buying anything until you leave.

I was driving arround yesterday and I was amazed at how many old cars there are sitting arround peoples property. Its like a gold mine of barn finds.

Modesto? What to do? Welll, ummmm...drive 30 minutes in any direction and DO NOT LOOK BACK!!! Modesto?...sheesh...Merced, Fresno, Turlock, Modesto, Stockton, Lodi...the armpit of the west coast...

Yes, I've lived in a couple of those, and went to Lake Don Pedro regularly as a kid so I know what I'm talking about...no need to flame, you all know it's true...just deal with it. :D

It looks like we are going to the Blackhawk museum today in Danville. That should be cool. I will take a bunch of pics.

From the Yellow Pages/Modesto: American Street Rods-1237 N Emerald AV Suite C and Cl***ic Chevy Parts & Restoration-4418 Carver Rd . A old car place in Escalon and one in Oakdale too. Good luck with the traffic getting to/from and in S.F.
