Hi, I'm coming over to Vegas with my girlfriend for the NHRA drags at the end of October. Could anyone recommend: 1) a good Chevy truck parts shop 2) a good speed shop (SoCal's already on the list) 3) a local cruise/meet that wouldn't mind some foreigners showing up in a hire car 4) anything else we shouldn't miss We're over for 10 days (Oct 27 - Nov 06). Many thanks!
sounds like you'll be there for the SEMA show, there will be lots to see even if you can't get into the show.
Only thing I ever did in Vegas was get married.......I guess that's about the biggest gamble you can take, but it's been nearly 42 years so I guess it worked out alright.
There is the Auto Museum at the Imperial Palace, a couple good cl***ic car lots, etc........There is always something to do in Vegas.
Dont know what you like, but the Neon Sign Musuem was interesting. You can tour two small lots with old neon signs from the Vegas area. They allow photos, but are informed that you can not use them for reproduction. For personal use only. You should book in advance, tours fill up quickly, at least that was so during the Viva Las Vegas weekend in April 08.
go ride big shot up the stratosphere tower!!!!!! theres a rod shop behind socal, carnt remember the name
I know of at least one HAMB member who lives in LV, must be more and yet not one post!!! Promote your city....
I always try and go bag out some laps at the indoor go kart track. round up your buddies and check this place out. Its on the other side of the 15 freeway from the strip. http://www.fastlaplv.com/
i always look at the phone book when ever i am in a new place. so cal was awesome when i was there in may, as well as the car museum in the imperial hotel.
Hot Rod Central is behind So-Cal, there is Carroll Shelby's place out by the race track, Imperial Palace has a nice car museum and there will be plenty of eye candy there running around for the SEMA show. <HR style="COLOR: #e5e5e5; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #e5e5e5" SIZE=1>
Drive to the Hoover damn, it pretty wild, then keep heading east until you figure you'le never see another human and this great old junkyard rises out of the desert full of 40's and 50's cars, Yep for real no Peyote dreams here!
Go to the gun shop at the south end of the airport, and fire full auto machine guns in their indoor range! I'll see if I can find their business card for you.
If you have to ask, maybe you shouldn't go........ Adult Disney land, you should be able to do just about anything you can think of. Blue Man Group is always good for a night of diversion.
They clamped down post 9/11....you have to be a US Resident...It MAY have changed, give them a call... http://www.thegunstorelasvegas.com/
I have a shop in Las Vegas, give me a shout when your in town and i would be more than happy to show you around the shop. Sema is always plus even if you just get to walk around outside, you can do that without a p***. my website is www.cadecustoms.com You can email if you like for more info. I am about a block or so away from SoCal Speedshop
Eat !!!!, That's what I like to do in Vegas. Go to the buffet at the MGM one night. It is like $38 per person but it is really good. I've never actually had to pay for my meal there because I get it comped. That's what they give you after too much gambling. Another one of my favorites is the Nathan's Hot dogs in New York New York. The chilli dogs rule. Ed
There is an impromptu (but regular) car get-together at the Dunkin Donuts on Craig & Jones every Sunday between 0800 and 1000. Music, rods, customs, kids, wives, dudes, dudettes, tats, fats and cats (and the occasional rat). Somebody has already suggested a Shelby tour...good plan and you can visit the Las Vegas racetrack while you're out there. SEMA show is good, as previously noted, if you just hang out around the display entrance (back street), you'll see plenty of stuff. There are numerous rod shops/mod shops in town, just grab the yellow pages when you get to the hotel. If you get on line while you're still at home - look up Las Vegas Cruisin' ***ociation (spell it that way for the search) - they list nearly every car event that is going on anywhere around here, and even other SW locales. There's always some kind of flyers laying around SoCal shop, even a magazine (free) that lists anything and everything across the US - name of mag escapes me at the moment. Somebody will doubtless provide it in further commentary. There...somebody from Las Vegas responded and didn't mention booze, chicks, or gambling...at least not out loud. dj
go to Las Vegas Motor Speedway=Richard Petty deal=drive a Nascar type car for 30 laps---it's a real rush---did it about 3 months ago (wife bought for our anniversary)--can't wait to do it again after I save up a little coin
Jump a cab to the Double Down Saloon........great nasty dive, punk shows at times and cheap PBR and Hamms if I recall rightly.
Count's Kustom's is definately a place to visit. http://www.countskustoms.com/ Oh and look out for the ***** stains on the ground near the 427 SOHC that is sitting in the back show room....those would be mine.
