That looks about the same shape as the 37 Im working on when I started. Have you seen the post I have had on short 37 ford. I got rid of alot of rust by doing it the way I did.

  4. Almost anything is repairable, if you have the time, talent, and money (or just a lot of money!). The real question is weather or not you want that car, that bad.

I always picture what the car will look like when it's done; then I decide if the journey is worth the effort. In this case a more-door '35 sedan probably wouldn't stir enough fire in me to even start the project....but then again I don't live in Finland.

Yep, I just mean that is this one worth of make on roadgoing again? Cauce I wondering what better ones cost somewhere else than here in Finland? And also if I buy one other I have to think many things and tranfer it here in Finland. (not seen many '35's for sale... ebay etc.) If even somebody are ready to transport those car into ship.
Well, what is price little bit better ones than mine somewhere else? Just wonderin cause here in Finland we have only few '35 Ford.
And how much HAMB members appreciates '35 Ford?
If I make mine back in road again it will be something else than ForDor then.

    Sorry about my silly questions!

Sorry about my English skills, but I don't understand what "poubler" means? Do You mean that those 35's are not much for sale; only parts?

    Well,
If you have the talent and the patience anything is possible.
But if this is one of your first. I'd start with something more substantial.
    Good luck to you!:)

Generally, a Fordor is not worth putting that much work into, at least that's the way it's been in the past. If you cut out the rear doors and made a slant back coupe you would definitely have something different. Patch panels are readily avilable for Fords so it's just a matter of how much time and talent you have versus money and good looks.

OK, I understand that those mine car is huge job if want to make it road going again... but I don't want anything else, it have to be a coupe; cause I will make plates by my self if I don't find coupe body. But if we think about Finnish laws; frame and papers is worth on money, not body it self.
So... have somebody here '35 3w coupe body for sale reasonable price and he/she is ready ready put it to ship? I ask it because I can't now travel to US or somewhere else and buy one (have to be in job)

And... maybe my writings looks like a kids talk, just because my English skills are not good enough. I'm build cars many years and this really not my first one.

Looks to me like you have the ability to do the needed work on the car. Since you already have it, and getting another car to Finland would be an expensive deal, build the 35. If I understand, you also have the ability to make your own replacement body parts? Good for you, you should be just fine. Are you planning on modifing the body from its present 4 door version to a 2 door version? It never made a lot of sence to take a rust free body and then change everything about it into something else. If you are making a lot of changes you might as well start with something rusty. Good luck. Gene

    Yes I got pics, thanks.
I just think that car like Yours is the best way to built my rusty one up.
Maybe I don't make it Coupe at all, 5 w sedan Tudor is OK too. Highboy style ratrod, will be cool...
How much You channeled frame inside the body? Looks that little bit more front than rear, am I right?
Now I wondering how much longer is sedan Fordor body than sedan Tudor body? Or is longer at all? And how much longer are sedan Tudor doors than sedan Fordor front doors?
If I make changes I want that body looks like original tudor.

build the chassi and make it a pickup?

this guy in sweden got some early ford sheetmetal etc
    http://www.californiacars.se/

maybe he has something you need?, maybe not the cheapest guy but still could be cheaper then importing from the states...

why not build a custom pickup with a packard or lasalle grille ?, why noot look on the studebaker coupe express
not really the same car or anything but doing a pickup out of an sedan/fordoor etc can often make it pretty cool

    http://www.moncopulli.cl/hist/37coupeexpress.jpg
check this for insiration, take rear end of car and tilt it so it becomes almost flat just like a pickup body's back.. could be done and much cooler then a fordoor...

getyourself some late 30ies or 40ies pickupbed and so on...

anyhow if the frame is good enough start to build that one and you can decide on the way what you wanna do with the car...

Yep, You are just right, it will be expensive way to build up this one if I buy another rust free body over the seas.
Only reason that I think another body is that I am totally bored to weld rust plates. I am done it so much and I rather use all those time to make modifications instead rust reparation.
But maybe I have to accept ones again and start to weld rust away. ;)
I think If I decide make it rat rod, it will be ready quite fast.

Makkeon the 37 im building I used 4dr doors that were rusted out. I cut 6" off the bottom and then built rockers out of another top. That got rid of most of my rust. I allso cut 6" out of 1/4s so the body is 12" shorter then it started out and you dont need a 2nd top to chop it. This car is going fenderless. Ill have the body on the frame and post pics in about a week

Say is that your chopped Vauxall Velox in the avatar? I dig it, post some pics.

I would never tackle anything that rough, the time and money saved by looking for a better carcass are worth it. It's false economy to start with something that bad, but then again I know how hard it is to find vintage steel in Europe, especially sunny Finland.

Well, that sounds good idea. Guite nice way to build car up.
I also wondering what to do with fenders. I like fenderless one, but I have to think Finnish laws too. There is some possibility to get fenderless car registered here in Finland, but it's quite hard anyway.

Hi Nads, Nice to hear that You like my Vauxhall kustom. Actually it's a '57 Victor not Velox.
I can send some new pictures about it when I take it out of my garage next week. But You can look some old ones http://personal.inet.fi/cool/makkes.garage/nykyiset/vihtori.html

Heh... yes, Finnish winters are not the best for cars.

yep it l;ooks a little rough - maybe better making a mild custom out of it as '35 parts seem to be harder to come by. there have been a couple of 35/36's for sale here in the uk over the last year or so.. i got mine from california it was a little better than yours to start with but have a look at my web site and youy can see what I started with.

Build it if you can, like someone else said '35's are so nice.

So my ideas change... now I even think pick-up like psychodaemon proposed.
But fenderless and without hood etc. Lot of chopped rat pick-up... with Cadillac V8 flattie. Weird daydreams!
Well see, thsi '35 will be in my garage after one week then I can say more...
