If you put the little flag thingy on the outside of the car they might deliver the mail right to your glovebox!
find a old 48-53 dodge truck to grab the hinges off. mine cantilevers over to hold the door shut, there for the door doesn't have a latch, the pressure of the hinge keeps it shut. Later
So now if you forget where you live all you have to do is lie on the floor and look up at the number on the box?
Well.....my 47 Plymouth has this little spring-y thing on the edge of the opening, that applies some pressure to cause the lid to pop open a bit. Maybe you could invent something similar. Seems to be a spring steel type item.
You could check out Chevy truck re-popped glove box keyed latches from the 50's to mid 60's. They are pretty similar to your International one.
I have been giving this some thought and I might use this on my F100. Also thought that maybe a coat of bed-liner on the outside might dampen some of the 'metal box' sound out of it.
Thanks all for the encouragement; this is one of those annoying "I'll get to it one day" things. Right now I have the front end apart & am contemplating coil overs & cost options rebuilding/replacing the Chevelle subframe ***y; still researching (might have to start another thread). Here's a couple pics of the latch, I check FlEa-Bay periodically, saw one that looked worse than mine a few months ago for $50, yeah; keep it. (BTW sorry about the checkered shop stool backdrop, kinda hurts the eyes)
Darn it!!!!!! I wish I had read this thread yesterday! I just finished replacing my old mailbox with an International KB glove compartment.
