I found this coupe in my father-in-laws pasture. He said he doesn't have much use for it, so he said I could have it if I wanted it. I'm afraid it's too far gone for my bodywork abilities , but can't see it just sit and rot in the ground! At the very least I plan to get it out of the ground and get it stored at the in-laws farm up on some blocks. I want to know what you guys think? Is this body salvagable with LOTS of work, or is it just too far gone?
It is salvagable and well worth saving at the price you are going to have to pay for it. its gonna be work but it can be done and there is no better time to learn than today.
my skills are no where near rival those of other hambers. that being said i say it can be fixed. as others have said its a great project to learn on. i would attempt it. go for it. have fun and keep us all posted. just take your time working and learning. just take little bits at a time to not get overwhelmed.
Dude you can save it check out gas light auto they have every patch panel needed to build model a. I used their panels to replace the bottom 4 inches of the last coupe I built. http://www.gaslightauto.com/items/model-a-parts/model-a-sheet-metal-replacement-parts/list.htm
All it needs is a engine, and you have a rat rod. still a lot of model A's out there, one day that will change.
I'd just bring it home, clean sand and tremclad it.. just to save what's left of it. I think if you took your time you could build it.
looks to have been farmer converted into a truck at one point, judging by the condition of the trunk area. Hell, its free. throw it up for sale here and buy something you want.
Thanks for all the input guys! I'm pretty new to the whole hot rodding scene, but there's only one way to learn how to do body work, a lot of looking around on the HAMB and attemping it I figure! What's the worst that could happen right?! I will keep you guys updated once I start working on this... gotta stay focused on one project at a time, which is my 30 A tudor at the moment.
Save it, or sell it. It will work out either way in your favor. There have been worse cars saved. Or it could be a life saver for someone building one to use for parts
Jim Silbey would be winning shows with it by Friday. Probably make it around the block by sun up tomorrow.
All the hard work is done, looks like it has already been channeled I'd drop it right onto the ch***is in my avatar
If someone had a 4 door sedan donor body with good floors, a nice clean cowl and door bottoms and rear roof section, this would be the perfect unit to combine with it to build a coupe. I like the idea of getting it out, washing all the dirt off and getting it up in the air where it's dry, and maybe oiling it. That way, it's preserved, no matter what ends up happening to it.
