Jeezus! Warn somebody before you post pics like that. I just shot Pepsi out of my nose and it burns like HELL!

While 10 is steep on the 40, it is solid and looks fairly complete. Wonder what the A's are goin' for???

Ive seen worse sell for 10K. I've been offered 9,000 for my 39 standard and it's in about the same state. Just my honest opinion, but then again I guess it just boils down to how bad a person wants it and what there willing to pay :D

BINGO! I'm betting everything in sight is over priced.

While I don't advocate building a car just for what it may be worth after it's done, it costs just as much to restore a coupe as it does a 4door sedan. Guess which one will be easier to move if necessary and which one will recoup more of your costs. Make sure that the one you select will still turn your crank a year from now when the work left to do looks so overwhelming. The "I can afford this one" motto will fade real fast. That happens to all of us.

Always ask about pricing .I never leave with out asking you never know what the price is until you ask .My 2 cents

  6. OK, you've made your point and you are correct. It is something that has baffled me for quite sometime now though.

I can undrstand wanting to build a rod from the ground up over buying a built rod and making changes to it. What I don't get is, someone buying something that is in sad shape for only a few dollars less then something in solid shape for a bit more.

I know there are cases where the car is going to be channeled anyway, or the firewall cut but I've seen guys buy ratty crap over decent tin for the same amount of money or even more.

I hear ya, and he'll probably find someone willing to pay it, it is pretty complete. The problems are the visible rust all the way through on the quarters behind the doors and the fact the windows are broken probably means more hidden rust. But as a comparison, here's one that just sold on eBay:

I personally would rather pay $10k for something that has a body in this kind of shape...

I'm actually going to talk to him again next week. The 28-29 doesn't have a motor or trans or decent wheels so he is going to locate them among all of the spare bangers and flattys lying around his property...Then we're going to talk prices. The problem with the Model As is that the coupes were all "converted" to irrigation truck back in the day. The decklids were removed and the sheet metal cut off the back to weld a pick up type bed sticking out ass end. Only the 28-29 looks to be salvagable. But it's still going to need patch panels ALL THE WAY AROUND.

Exactly, even though I want to learn to do sheet metal and body work, I'd rather pay a few $ more for something that will require substantially less work.

Chris, I just saw your 39 on the other thread. Believe me, yours is in WAY better shape than this one. There is NO interior other than a seat frame with padding, the dash is rusted pretty good, the gauges are broken, not to mention the rust. I'd love to have yours! :D
