Hi all. I'm starting to look around for a plasma cutter but not sure if there is anything I should look for or avoid. I'd like something that will sever 3/8'' but it will most likely be for sheet metal and 1/4'' and below. Somewhere in the $1000-$1500 range or so. Anyone out there with some advice? I have 220 v in the shop so am not limited to 110. Internal compressors? External air supply?? Hobart? Miller? Lincoln? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Nathan
i love my miller 375, using the hell out of it lately....and it is either 110 or 220 with a flick of a switch and a plug change.
Is it the 375 or the smaller 375 Extreme? I'm looking at the Extreme -- cuts just as much and only weights some 20 pounds. To the OP: If you've got a compressor I'd consider built-in air just one more thing to go wrong and add weight. I've had a Lincoln and an ESAB; ESAB was best by far, but also most expensive. I've bought several off Craigslist -- including a like new 7/8" rated ESAB for $450 (retails for $~2400) One criteria I'd stick with is make sure you've got a good source of consumables -- I didn't have one for my Lincoln and it cost! Make sure you've got clean air!! Good Filter will pay for itself.
I was given an auto arc from my boss. was hanging around one of the shops. it heavy as hell (has its own wheels). any one know anything about them??
