I was at a farm implement salvage yard today, because when you think about it, what better place to score old car parts that aren't picked over. In their bus full of carbs, mixed in with the tractor carbs I found 4 Holley 94's, 4 Rochester 2G's, and some larger holleys that look like 94's but have a 4 bolt pattern (2110 i think?) They want $25 a piece, I grabbed two of the 94's and from the looks of things on ebay I should have grabbed them all. Just wondering what some of you guys thought a realistic price to pay for rebuilders is?

BTW, if you have an implement salvage near you, check it out! I found stacks of old Kelsey Hayes and artillery wheels, hundreds of old hub caps, grill shells, tail lights, gauges, loads of axles, and other random car parts all from the 20's to the 60's. The best part is that not many of the farmers who go there know or care about old car parts.

On the Holley 94's, you got a decent deal. I try to get them for around $25 as cores and it costs another $35 or so for good rebuild kits not to mention your labor costs to clean, rebuild, paint, etc.. A nice 94, rebuilt and painted or restored is worth around $60.00-$100.00 from my experience. Make sure you get the "good" power valves, the ones made in China or Indonesia or wherever are known to fail or be faulty.

I have also scored at implement yards, mostly wheels and lights and grille shells. Things are getting harder to find though, and prices are rising accordingly.

Go back and buy em' all and offer him $20 each for the lot and I guarantee you will make a nice profit as 94 cores are zround $35-45, those big 4 bolt holleys are most likely 2110's that were called "bug spray" carbs and they were used on hi-performance VW's are going for $45-$60, and the 2g's are bringing$40-$55 easy. Tell me how I know, I buy dozens of them all each week. They just keep going up and get more scarce every day. Actually, I tell you what, you get them even for $20 each I will give you the extra $5 each for all of them. Now there's a no loose deal, eh?

I got a good Rochester core 2G-CG (talking side inlets only) last week for $12.00 at a yard, but $30.00 to $55.00 for a very nice core is about the going rate.
