What to see and do in Arizona

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by kgdb, Mar 7, 2010.

  1. Going to do a trip to Arizona in April, Glendale area. Whats to do and see? Vintage wreckers? Sites to see? Never been there before, just plan on kicking back and relaxing.

Look up the spring Goodguys show to see if that is on when you are here. There are lots of parts places selling the same old crap as everybody else. There is an interesting wrecking yard on 51st avenue about Buceye rd on the east side of the road. You might also try to find Hidden Valley wrecking yard (they seem to have moved). There were also a couple between Phx and Casa Grande that had old cars, but it has been years since I have been down there.
You might post up what kind of cars you are interested in.

Look up http://www.dvap.com/, its a huge yard with 2 locations. Worth checking out and the guys there are super nice. Downtown Glendale has some nice places to eat. JeffB2 gave the link for every show in the area too.

There is a big car show every Saturday at Scottsdale Pavillions Mc Donalds starting at 4 pm to 9 or 10 pm.
It is located off the loop 101 on Indian Bend Road in Scottsdale. It is on the west side of the Loop 101.

Cruising Main Street in downtown Mesa is also cool. Live cruising. It happens the last weekend of every month. It happens on Main Street between Country Club Road and Mesa drive.

If your in Las Vegas be sure to check out Viva Las Vegas car show at the Orleans casino/hotel April 2-4. Rockabilly entertainment. Way Cool!!

If you can't make that, there will be a huge car cruise on Central Ave. in Phoenix April 3rd. It will be located at Central Ave. and Earl Ave. Starts around 4or 5 p.m.

  8. go up north.. the Sedona area is beautiful.. also check out Jerome and the gold king mine and ghost town. Don has hundreds of old cars trucks and machinery its a gear heads dream.

  9. The Hidden Valley yard used to be about 110+ acres. they crushed most of their stuff out in 2005 when real esate peaked. They saved some of it and have it stored next to me. Then they bought an existing 10 acre yard on the other side of hwy 238 and put their name there and that is what they now run. They move some of their saved stuff over from time to time.
What kind of stuff are you into? I have about 450 vintage Pontiacs and am not too far from Hidden Valley.
Also, the 8th annual Nostalgic Show & Go! with be coming back to Speedworld Sunday April 11. Here is an event flyer.
    See you here in Arizona.
