so it looks like the original 389 from my catalina is going to be powering the model A. (just scored a complete tri power set up for it). the motor will get a complete rebuild, and a mild hop up.

now, i can use the original auto ****** as well,(which seems to work just fine) but i'm wondering if i have other options. i want to stick with an automatic, but would like to be able to run a 350 or 400 or something like that.

i doubt anything bolts directly to the block ( i know i'll ave starter issues), so are there adapter kits available? has anyone done this?

a few years ago we needed to replace the slush box in my dad's '63 bonneville convertible, but we ran into the starter issue and ended up swapping in a 400/350 combo out of a '71 catalina. However, they now have adapter rings to mount the starter so you can run a modern GM auto ******. I'll see if I can find the information on who makes them.
