    Hi All,

I'm new to this game just starting off a very budget build and have a set of 16 x 6 steel wheels and I'm wondering what tyres I can run? (i'm planning on a fenderless 28 - just getting it all together on paper first). I'm not too familiar with the vintage sizes (700-16? arg?)

The vintage sizes are not too big of a mystery. If you are already familiar with the "modern" metric tire sizing nomenclature, the aspect ratio is presumed to be ~90, and the width expressed in inches instead of millimeters (x25.4). So a 7.00x16 would be approximately a 178/90B16. It is not an exact equation, but you get the idea.

7.00x16 would be a good size. 7.50x16 is a popular one too.

  3. Good choice on the wheel size, running big and littles? Call Coker tire and get some first hand advise from the pro's, some nice blackwalls and dog dish caps would be traditionally cool. Good luck with the project, become an alliance member and buy from an alliance vendor and you will recover your alliance membership cost with your first purchase and be supporting this great forum in proper style. ~Sololobo~
