The '70s were not a time when you stopped, and thought "Do I have a condom?".

You drive that? I've seen you out and about here. Are you the guy that I talked to at cruise night about wanting to find a 'Cuda or Challenger a few years ago?

I'm deaf (most people remember me when I point this out. :D)

They were good days. My daily driver was an old laundry delivery van... The stories I could tell..................

  5. Back in the late 70's I built this '74 Firebird. It had a high compression SBC with a T400. Back then, you could find 100+ octane at the pump with no problem.

Ha ha. I did that on my last car and it sure looked good. But it did make the ladies a tad uncomfortable. Gary

Will have to find a pic. (which I know I have) of my older brothers '62 Ford Galaxie 500.
It was a Bad Ass street racer, 390 bored to 410 with 3 deuces, Factory cast iron headers, Big cam,
top loader 4 speed, 4.11 posi. diff., slapper bars, ran cheater slicks year round, ready to race!
    But looked like a sleeper.
Used to be factory lightweight Super Stock car. He'd hang out at the "Party Doll" bar in Highland CA. and choose loudmouths off to race out on the Greenspot Rd. (illegal) drag strip for twenty dollars a gear. Paid for his nights of partying!

  13. Didn't say I ever used one, just said I had a box. ;)

  16. Chaz,
    reminds me of a song:
"...like a picture she was laying there moonlight dancing off her hair, I woke up and took he by the hand, we made love in my chevy van and that's alright with me."

Yeah, sometimes it did. The back was decked out with orange shag carpet and wood paneling, There were huge speakers connected to a lear jet stereo, a bong under the front seat in the battery box. (the battery was moved to the back) and a "Mr Fantasy" by Traffic hollowed out eight-track tape filled with marijuana in the storage case.
Jeezus we thought we were cool.
Hot Rod magazine always had "How To's" and the van ended up with them all. Tunneled antennas, lace paint, flared fenderwells and pinstriping. Dont forget the bigs and littles...15 inch Firestone 500's in the rear and 13 inch polyglas up front!

Yep...Golden Gardens at Shilshole. Sat on that sign myself with a doobie and a beer. Was the place to be. Then, later, off to Alki then Renton Loop.

I was a kid in the '70s... but, I do remember a lot of cars like these! The first car I had to have was a 1970 Chevelle SS with mag wheels and air shocks in the back!

Holy crap, does this bring back some memories...born in '66, so I didn't drive until the early 80s, but I was drooling over muscle cars long before then. Seemed like EVERYONE smoked weed, I remember seeing early Camaros in the local paper for $2500 or less, and lots of them in the HS parking lot.

My first car was a dark brown '75 Pinto w/a 4 speed. Thrashed that car within an inch of it's life, did some righteous burnouts with it until the clutch went south. Tried to cut in front of a tractor-trailer at a light one time and lost. Very low speed, but the car got pushed up on 2 wheels, and I remember looking over and seeing a "Peterbilt" nameplate about 3 inches from my pass window. Ended up junking the car soon thereafter.

    Good times.

I still have the bike (still in my mom's basement , lol) , and will restore it one of these days so my daughter can enjoy it too ! It's a 1970 version that I got used when I was a kid .
