Like this? This might have been the late 60's. I can't remember now because of some the stuff I did later in the 70's

Muscle cars or a car with a big block under the hood , Cragers , Thrush side pipes , Gabriel High Jackers air shocks in the back to get the ass end up high enough to get the big ass N50's under the back fenders , shackles , 8 tracks , fast cars , long hair , girls with those sweet short Hot Pants with Halter tops , 6 pk of beer was less than a dollar , $.35 to $.39 a gallon gas until the gas shortage , drag racing , street racing , cars were dirt cheap with big engines , good Sunoco 260 gas , everyone had a job and was easy to get one , Hemis were cheap , 32 Fords were cheap along with the 40 Willys and many would give them to you , most old cars from the 1960's were bought for $50 to $100 and were damn nice too , you could buy a state police car for $200 to $300 that had those big ass high HP engines in them - basically a race car dirt cheap , lots of drag tracks around , Funny cars started , the front engine dragster went away , basically the 60 and 70's were the greatest times in history to own a car - soooo much power for under $3000 new ! To me those were the best times in my life and there was so much really great times and fun to have . Times were simple and easy and everyone had MONEY to burn ! There will never be another time like that ever again .
The worst part of that time was Viet Nam bottom line ! Other than that if you weren't there you really missed the whole big bad ass cars and racing at it's best !
    Just my opinion !

Nice Acadian! If you had N50s you was da man it was ussually G60s on cheapie slots, universal bolt pattern chromies or if you were lucky Cragars. Yep big shackles, yellow or chrome track bars, chrome diff cover or diff painted white, garter or handcuffs hanging from mirror, eight track player and the suitcase of eight tracks on the seat, tiny Grant steering wheel or wood rimmed wheel, oh and those mud flaps with Yosimite Sam "Back Off!" on them. A lot of this carried over into the 80s. That's when I was in highschool. My '72 Vega with sbc and 70 Nova were prime examples.

Miller "Pony" bottles, that Farrar Faucett poster in the swimsuit, $3.00 concert tickets (The Eagles and The James Gang & Joe Walsh rode a chopper up on the stage to start the show..........I think.) Lexan port holes in the side of the van, FM radio converter under the dash, and the FIRST Street Rod Nationals.

$30 no-name chrome kits for sbc that were shit in a week and the seal never fit right in the timing cover.
Resto rods were good, street freaks too. My aunts boy friend ( my dad called him Saturday night fever! Ha ha!) had a 70 Camaro jacked a mile high chrome straight axle, BBC tunnel ram, cragars, side pipes, rear fender flares, dark green metal flake with white interior and white vinyl roof with the porthole windows. It was awsome when I was 8! My dad had a 70 Road Runner 4 gear Hemi, black with black interior, pistol grip shifter, bench seat, rubber floor mat instead of carpet and radio delet, widened black steelies on the back with dog dish caps all around. Car was a sinister street bully like a set of automotive brass knuckles just flat out mean and retarded fast. Guys in all sorts of muscle would pull up in front of the house gun it a couple of times and pops would give them the finger or the nod in which case he would jump in the runner and follow them. Found out later he was street racing for some serious coin.

I've spent the last 30 years trying to forget the 70s, fortunately a lot of the things I was doing then helped me forget most of it.
If you really want a look back, just pick up some Hot Rod or Car Craft from that era. It was just plain goofy.

man when i look back at some of the cars of the 70s i cant believe what i thought was cool.but i still like fat tires in the back ass in the air stance, (on some cars) im still like white letter tires and shelf speakers and i just bought a 8 track for my car. i still have a lot of my tapes from the day. and im did remember to put a match book under the tape to keep it from draggin.i still have long hair and wear jeans and t shirts and avaitor sunglasses.and i still get sto.... nevermind

  26. well the back end was high in the air and either wild paint or earth tones for the other guys........oh yeah that fabric inside was called FOXY COPPER I used it in my 65 Impala built in 78,,,,,,,,,,,oh yeah 8 tracks rule Ive still got one in my 56 that was built in Portland Oregon in 74..you might want to find one of the older members of rose city street rods they should know your car.

The Pioneer Stereo "Silver Era"...nothing better then or today. Quality when cost was no object. If you've never seen or listened to an SX-1980 with HPM-100's, ...if you get the chance, do it!

Hot in the 70's? Bad taste! I know first hand 'cause I had the extended shackles, awful 8-track music, flares, and dorky haircut. Now, I can't keep up on how to wear my cap properly.
