Hot Rods What was I thinking-3 window kit car (steel)

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 2deuces64, Aug 15, 2025.

  1. Passenger side looks better. We looked at using 4 door parts when chopping my 5 window but they had no curve to the door tops. Using 2 door sedan door tops made life much easier.

  3. I think yours is chopped more than mine. I'm not sure exactly how much mine is chopped since I started with a Fordor top I chopped the rear window 5" and lowered it. my side windows have a 6 1/2"
opening at the back and 6" about 4 " back from the front lower corner. There is only about a 1/2" wedge, if that makes sense.
I had a fiberglass top that I used to make a wire form, and it followed the contour of the back slope well. Now that I have a complete top maybe I should chop it another 1" or 2.:eek:o_O

That’s looking good. Are you going to get it ready for paint? Or you still want to work on some part? I am ready to see it in living color, lol.

Since you asked the question, here is my opinion. I think the rear crown of the roof needs to come down a little more. The door/window seems to be longer than a regular 3 window and I think that makes the rear area even more important in getting a natural flow to the rear of the roof. Not knocking what you have done, just giving my honest opinion.

Edit: Just saw where you had posted a picture with a blue line drawn in the same area as what I just suggested.......so I didn't copy what you said.........I just came to the same conclusion you did.......if that means anything. :)

  8. Thanks
I have a lot to do before I even start on the body work. I will be going back to Kansas for the winter, I only will be working on this after the middle of June when we come back to our cabin in Colorado. I only have 2 more weeks here. It will get some color in epoxy (primer) eventually.

  9. The drip rail over the door seems to need a little crown, maybe a half inch at the center point. The latness of the drip rail may be visually pushing the rear bump of the roof to look slightly out of whack. The rear section might need to be leaned forward ever so slightly to eliminate that slightly swollen look. I only offer my visual interpretation in good faith and not in criticism as I have neither the skill nor the nerve to attempt this jig saw puzzle. Keep moving forward as each new entry shows all of us you are way more skilled and courageous than any of us "lookie lous".
