Pretty sure it was a '55 Ford convertible, my Mom's car.

I think it was dark blue or something from my faded memories of it, it got traded in on a spankin'-new red and white '64 VW microbus for haulin' the family around when I was about 5 years old.

But I do remember the back seat was always full of leaves from the tree it was parked under next to the curb. The plastic back window was probably impossible to zip back up or missing altogether.:D

49 Studebaker....Only thing I remember about that car was smashing my finger in the door. I was about 3.

Somewhere, I have a picture of me...about 1, sitting in my dads BSA sidecar in England.

A 59 Fury convert, white with red interior. Must have been brand new, early prodution, because I was born in Sept [11]58, he swears it had a Hemi in it, I didn't they had them in 59 cars. Odd part is, my Mom got all the tickets in it. They kept it until 61 and got a new 61 Dynamic 88 bubble top. Loved that car. Want to find one someday.

The earliest car I can remember was my old man's 38 LaSalle sedan. I'm am old fart so I probably came home from the hospital in it.

  14. I don't remember it but I would assume the first car I rode in was my grandfather's 34 Ford 2-door sedan that I managed to put a dent in the driver's side rear fender while honing my driving skills at the age of 10.I can still feel the ass-whippin' I got for that stunt.

The second one I will ALWAYS remember:I was five years old and my aunt Verna and Uncle Al came to visit us with their 1947 Lincoln Continental convertible.I was fascinated with the push button doors(no outside handles)and power windows that I ran up and down a dozen times at least.

I also remember the first car I drove on the street(at 11 years old)was a friend of mine's older sister's 54 Ford.I was helping his older brother put an engine in his 53 Ford and was using her car to run for parts. He needed a pack of cigarettes and I didn't want to walk to the store to get them so he threw me the keys to her car and said to take it.

I almost made it back to the garage and got stopped by the cops. They wanted to know why I was driving the car so I told them I didn't want to walk to the store so I used the car. They wound up taking me home rather than to the police station because they knew my grandfather and knew I'd get an ass-kicking.They weren't wrong.

33 desoto sedan was my ride home, And a few months later it was also my first encounter with a drunk driver!the folks got hit head on by a drunk.I was in a carbed that hung from the back of the back seat .They were looking for me all over the place because they thought I was thrown from wreck.eventually things got calm enough to hear me crying in the trunk!the rear seat folded down for loading long things in the trunk sort of like a station wagon.the guess is as the seat came forward I was flipped over the top ,when the car came to a stop the seat went back into place

We were very poor my Dad didn't get a car until
my older brother and him went into parrtnership
to buy one. The first ride I remember was a 48 Buick conv.
my brother told me it had a automatic transmission
I was riding in the front seat in the center staring at the
shift lever waiting for something to happen.

    1962 Corvette.

They brought me home from the hospital in Oct. 1969. No car seat. no seatbelts. At least the hardtop was on!!!

The next summer, my parents took me to the very first Street Rod Nationals in Peoria. We drove all the way from Kansas City in the Corvette. Still , no car seat, no sealtbelts, ect.

My dad joined the N.S.R.A there and we have "attended" every Street Rod Nationals.

No we werent in a street rod at the first one, but we were there.

Corvette is long gone... replaced by a couple of 32 Ford coupes.

47 Chevrolet but the car I remember most was a 50 Ford pickup that got traded back and forth between my Dad and Uncle several times over the years. Both my cousin and I learned to drive in it. We were pretty young and generally confined to fields and stock feeding though we slipped off to the big city a couple of times (big city haha one street, a bar, a general store gas station shop, a cemetery, and a church) We once took a trip from Tensleep, Wyoming to Chase City, Va. Mom, Dad, little sister and me. Sis road most of the way standing up or sitting on the Jockey box lid. we always said she walked across America. Thanks for the nostalgia:)
