When I was in 2nd grade I used to walk to school every day & an alley I cut through would take me past a garage owned by a local drag racer . His garage contained his Anglia race car . But beside his garage sat a Falcon sedan delivery it had a chopped top ,straight axle ,radiused rear wheel wells ,long ladder bars ,very heavy red metal flake . It had no motor or trans but WOW every day I drooled over it . My young brain could not understand what kind of monster could leave the coolest car in town set outside in the rain & snow ? My dad always had old cars mid 50s Ford mild customs , but man this car was like a U.F.O. from outer space ! That car burnt an image in my little brain that to this day effects whats cool to me . All my money for years was spent on model cars always gassers . When I was right out of high school I was at a gas station filling up my big block 67 Mustang fastback & heard something rumbling down the street it was THE FALCON it pulled in a store across the street . A guy I knew since 5th grade was driving it he pulled in bought cigarettes & was gone before I could pay for my gas and get over there . I heard it going up the street grabbing gears when I came out of the gas station . Damn I was overjoyed I couldnt believe that it was still around but my heart ached all over again for that car even more after seeing go down the street . Pro Street was the latest trend at the time but here was my car looking the same untouched same old paint ,decals, tow bar mounts . Mustang prices were going crazy at the time but would have traded my mild street racer big block car in a second for it . He still owns the car today it sets in his uncles barn hasnt been driven in years . If it came up for sale Id sell most anything I own to get it . He restores old mopars and knows I want it but its his first car so doesnt want to sell it I understand. His whole family knows Im to be its next owner if anything ever happens to him we are buddies now I dont want it that way . Will this car haunt me forever, or will I spend my whole life wishing , will I some day become one of the lucky bastards on here with the got the car of my dreams finally thread ? Whats the car that haunts your dreams and burnt its image in your brain, all other cars suffer in comparison to & you would do almost anything to own ?

I know most of you wont agree but the car that got me into cars and drag racing and eventually into everything hotrod/FED/muscle cars was the 1968 Dodge Charger R/T. I had seen Chevelles, Mustangs, old cars I thought were grandpa cars (even though I liked them). But the day I walked up on that car when i was 12 years old, its curves and lines like I had never seen before. The hidden head lights, its awesome interior and gauge cluster. While other cars I liked one part or another (the front the side the rear) the Charger to me was perfect in every aspect, rather it was fast or slow it looked like it was 1000miles an hour standing still. What I wouldnt give for one today.

There are a few for me, but then I'm easily affected by cars.

    -Mazda FD3S RX-7
Purchased a 94' model and enjoyed it for four glorious years.

    -63' Chevy C10 Pickup
My brother had one of these when I was growing up. There are lots of fond memories of traveling around in his hot-rodded truck throughout the years.

    -Mid-60's Thunderbird
For the last ten years there have been several near-misses with these lovely big birds. I still kick myself for not biting on the 65' Convertible an old lady was willing to part with for a mere 5,000$. Hopefully I'll one day get one with a 428, but I'd love a 390 just the same.

    -67' Ford Mustang Fastback 289 (though I wouldn't fuss about a 390)
I don't know art, but I know what I like and this car has been right there since I can remember.

-Early 30's Ford RPU or pickup
Small, old, Flathead-propelled; what is not to love? One of these would be a riot and with some work would be a good parts hauler / motorcycle carrier.

A straight axle , blown BBC in a 62 Vette was what I wanted when I was about 12 but so far I've had to settle for my double tunnelrammed 4 speed old 55 chevy 210.

  12. I always wanted a '33-'34 Ford coupe, like many other folks The California Kid left a everlasting impression on me. I only came close to getting one in 1978 and to this day regret that deal didn't work out. The price they go for today probably sealed my fate of never owning one for sure.

  15. a guy up the street from me was a drag racer in the 70's he had a white 64 galaxie bodied wagon he would race when he wasnt racing his 428scj 69 stang for some reason i fell in love with that car (wagon) after a while he parked it in the side yard beside his garage and i was like wow if that car is still sitting there when im old enough im gonna try to buy it.......i was like 7 at this time...... one day came home the car was gone i thought oh he is probably driving it again but i never saw the car again well, time passes i get to be driving age and go through a bunch of cars

and alot of headaches with the city inspectors in the city i used to live in eventually i end up with my 69 mustang and im driving past his house and hes out working on his 69 soo i get up some nerve and stop and talk to him do some bench rACING AND SO ON and then i tell him how much i loved his old 64 wagon he said yeah i did too, BUT the damn city inspectors kept getting on to him about it...and he sent it to the scrap yard man my heart broke when he said that

now dont get me wrong i was around ALOT of badass cars when i was akid but for some reason that wagon really did it for me

but if your talkin famous cars when the california kid comes around that corner in the opening shots of the show shhhwwweng
and when project x rolls into the gargae parking lot and you hear the whine from the blower ....OHHH MAN

and when falfas 55 leaves the light after first coming into the shots in graffitti mmm mmm good

It's my 56 F100. Always wanted one. This one is my second.

Second choice would be a shoebox with a T-bird Y-block.

What sticks in my mind was the 1954 Jaguar XK-120 that me and a friend shoved a early hemi in the front by cutting out the wheelwells. We adapted a Muncie 4 speed to the back. I was always afraid to do burnouts for fear of trashing the rear end, so we would race at 20-at-a-roll. Scary fun!

    4 Come to mind.
All were Hot Wheels: a a '32 roadster, a '56 F-100, a '36 Coupeand a Blue w/ white racing stripe Cobra. The first three had the red center lines. The last had the rubber wheels.

My first was a '69 Indy Pace Car Camaro , I have also always had urges for single headlight early 70's Barracudas , and the '67 T-Bird , As of late it is a '62 Ferrari 250 SWB .

  20. I saw 32 Roadster at Great Lakes Dragway in 1968 that was driven there and was kicking serious butt on the trailered cars.

    Love at First Sight...!

my uncle had a '34 ford 5 window that had a huge effect on me growing up. I was actually looking for a '34 when I found the '37. I still want to recreate this car..

The Willys in the movie Hot Rod. Saw it when I was young and drew pictures of it for weeks... I also love the little red primer coupe that I took a picture of at the Jalopy Showdown. Does anyone on here own it?

Same here. I had an uncle who had one and to this day it's the fastest I've ever been in a car. I had just started paying attention to cars and that thing had me mesmerised. He bought it new and took my dad and me for a run in it.

Years later he sold it and I damn near cried. Those early 70's Mopars kicked ass! I'll never forget it.

  29. I think it was in the second dirty dozen movie, a Mercedes 500 and then give it the traditional treatment.

Well I was about 10 or so and they use to sell bubble gum with cards like baseball cards but the pictures in these ones were hot rods....My 3 all time favorite cards were tweedy pie , a 40 willys gasser and a 55 f100 those cards were the start of a full blown addiction. It went from cards to mags to models to the real thing and I havent quit yet ....
