the frame on my 32' will stay black.... the body will be a different color, but I might keep the motor black. Milners' 32' was "60's" and was yellow w/ a black frame.

That is a good contrast, the light metallic paint against the black. You can't go wrong with that and it's not too loud.

You must live in the high rent district of rodder-dom where subtleness is the norm. I think some people are going flake on entire rods in some parts of the country.

I have two cars built in that time frame. Both have black frames.

One thing to consider is that a black frame tends to "slenderize" the look because in many places it seems to disappear. I was just lazy when I did a quickie to get it back on the road. This would look different if the frame matched the body.

I love the look of an A on a set Deuce rails. The look is so much different from an A on A rails. Black rails will tend to hide that difference and if I went with a Deuce frame, I'd want people to notice it.

    Your tastes may be different.

    tommy,

The black wheels and frame look great. I love that look. IMO matching painted rails look a little boring. Black just looks mean.

One color that hasn't been mentioned, but was on a lot of cars from the fifties was white with pinstriping.
    Detroit area in the fifties:
Lil Deuce Coupe, before it was chromed, was white.
Pete's Custom Collision 40 Ford Coupe in 1957 was white with red pinstriping by Hatton

Street cars were usually just chassis black. You bought it in a can at the Western Auto store.

No, I am just conservative and like to be fairly accurate. I have never been one for turntable cars or mirrors under the car. That just means there is a trailer around the corner.....

My likes tend to always slant towards the early drag cars, when guys were building their own cars on a budget and racing them on the weekends. No matter how different my builds start out, they all end up at this point for some reason.
