  2. Lots of good and bad in '10. Too much to endure.
Trying to forget the bad the absolute best was a couple of weeks ago when we found out that the anomoly in the Wife's mamogram was a fibrous tumor and nothing more than that.

agreed; lots of good and bad in 2010 but always good to try and focus on what made the year great!

My car related moment of 2010: I have a fully restored 1986 Jeep CJ-7 which is pretty badass (I must admit) and its a fun jeep to own and probably one of the nicest around. We took it to its only car show over the summer: Cruisin' on Main on Old Main street in Manchester, CT. Our 1950 Plymouth launched its engine a few weeks earlier so we coudn't bring that so we took my toy instead! My Jeep was the only one there besides for an old military Willys out of hundreds of cars. While browsing the hundreds of classics and rods i heard someone say that the "big red Jeep was their favorite pick of the day." It felt good to hear someone say that. The jeep was sitting among the nicest early automobiles, classics, rat rods, gassers, and vintage cruisers from all over New England and to hear someone say that in that type of crowd was a real treat.

as for other moments: I graduated school; my family is healthy, i have a job, i'm paying my bills, i have some great toys to keep me busy and i made it to see 2011. Lot to be thankful for right there!

Retiring at Thanksgiving! That's gonna be tough to beat in future years!

  6. Car related was sitting on the green at Pebble Beach with my brother, and some car guys from HAMB, showing Frank Morawski's 27 T that we had brought across country, and then going to Rodders Journal for the photo shoot.

Going to Mcphearson college upholstery class, and the Guypsum Ks Car show before hand was the car highlight. Sales picking up in my furniture business and getting my back problems fixed are my personal highlights. Any family wise my oldest daughter getting out of special forces and moving to Austin and my youngest daughter getting engaged.
so 2010 was one great year.

My best moment, followed one of my worst moments of the year. My worst moment happened last month. My engine came apart in Oklahoma as I was driving my AV8 cross country.

The best moment, came an hour after I posted on the HAMB and fordbarn.com, about my delima. Offers of help came pouring in. One good hearted soul from Texas, drove to OK and hauled my car all the way to AZ. He was going that way with an empty trailer, to bring back a car he bought. My wife and I rented a car and drove on ahead of him. The second best moment came 2 1/2 days later, when he arrived with my car.

    I haven't had a good movement in 5 years.

    Being approved for SS Disability.

  14. Waking up in the hospital after having a heart attack. Something called a TNK super clot buster and several doctors saved my life. The rest of this year has been shit....seriously.

  17. I use this story when I try to tell people about the HAMB and what a great group of people there are on this site. Most people can't believe it.

After reading what you all have been thru I'd say my whole year was pretty damn good.

  19. Several good moments, son came home from Afghanistan safely, wife survived emergency surgery (turned out to be gall bladder) and best of all, I survived June 19th. Was in full arrest when they rolled me into the emergency room, three angioplasties and two stents later I was doing much better. Heart stopped during surgery but God wasn't ready to take me just yet.

Hard to call out a "best". Did some good things, closed a few deals, landed some nice work for the shop, knocked out some side work, but I have to say that 2010 looks to be a turning point toward better vs worse. I'll have to keep my nose to the grindstone but what doesn't require that?

I guess that car-wise (forum topic) I got a great woodgraining opportunity. I did a Delahaye limo for the longest reigning monarch in the history of the world. I'm sure it came along less for my ability and more for timing/convienience, but in the end that had changed when the finished product went in the car. I can honestly say that my woodgraining is "fit for a king" now thanks to the crew doing the car. Then again maybe scoring a 29 Packard 640 Roadster would rank right up there too. Then again maybe one of our customers getting an AACA Grand National award for his Packard. Perhaps finding a jumbo deal on some things I've been looking for for quite a while like 61 Chev hood hinges or a Buick nailhead (thanks to the HAMB classifieds on the nailhead). Also scored a nearly "felonious deal" on an 05 GMC Duramax dually and Featherlite trailer (right place, right time, unique sequence of events). To top it all off I GOT MY GARAGE BACK!!! I actually got going on the bubbletop again albeit in minor ways for now. Just in time for humbug season, but NO MORE CARS IN THERE UNLESS THEY'RE MINE.

There were some personal highs and lows too but the board's about car stuff so I'll keep it at that.

Going on my 3rd year after my heart surgery I'd say this was the best year yet. A week at Bonneville, driving through California in a 55 chevy gasser with three amigos was pretty rad. One particular moment was when we drove through all the almond plantations and sung some swedish r&r songs. Amazing. Next plan wil be to bring my wife to US and see Speed week in a few years from now. Merry Christmas all.

My best moment this year is that my mom is still here after nearly passing away with heart problems. My wifes working again and I will start working again 20-12-27-2010 after both of us being laid off.
Car related. My Merc in Pat Ganahl's book "Lost Hot Rods" and invite to the GNRS Kustom car show.

  23. Getting a county job, with 14 paid holidays a year, vacation, sick time, personal time off,, etc etc and it's ALMOST-recession-proof... I think...8)

Next, would have to be starting the Tudor up, putting it in reverse, backing out of the driveway, putting it in Drive, and having it go through the gears, and steer right, and stop right, and corner right, and nothing blew up, fell off, or leaked ( too badly, anyway, 1 twist on the hose clamp and it was fixed)

  26. Keeping it car related, I'd have to say getting the 32 in my avatar on the road - after 7 years (and that isn't that long compared to some), I'd finally gotten some seat time. It was one sweet ride that day, let me tell you ....

  27. Moving away from Los Angeles, picking up a new project car and getting engaged. Lets see how 2011 goes now.
