Traded $ 1200 for a 32' Essex Terraplane 5-window coupe in 92 and fired the engine last Thursday. Set off and on for years, but never gave up on it, never sold it. And ain't about to spend that much time on another one.

Some years ago I swapped my rod at the time a '24 T Rdst P/u straight across for a '38 Chevy tudor. Both cars were painted, upholstered finished proven rods. I drove the 38 for two weeks and just hated it. Pulled into a run and there set my T. As I walked up to the guy I had traded with he asked me a couple of questions and I responded by asking him if he was unhappy with the trade why didn't we just trade back, and we did. As my two boys and I walked off happy to have the T back in the family my youngest son turned to me and said "Daddy you screwed that man twice"

I'm a body man by trade. One Saturday afternoon, I fixed a buddies brand new Chevy truck door ding, and tail gate dimple. Then on Sunday, I painted it, and delivered it to him that evening and picked up his '78 Mustang II T-Top mach 1, that the dealership was only going to give him $500, for. Nothing I was looking for, but it sure was fun for that Summer

traded a 327 chevy short block that needed rebuilding for a 57 chevy 2dr. sedan. Not stolen, titles just lost. Put the chevy in a demo derby that same day and turned it into instant scrap! Upset a lot of people even in 1967.

A lil over a month ago I bought a `99 Ranger for $600,put a set of $100 wheels on it,then traded it for a `79 Cutlass Hurst/Olds. I then traded the Cutlass for a 2009 Suzuki Boulevard C50t. The bike was worth about $5k.

X-Man #1. for my brothers dead '62 Falcon tudor coupe + $200. I found the restored comic book in a padded manila envelope, when I moved into an apt. and was stowing stuff in my new storage closet. My older brother has always been a comic book guy, and COLLECTED X Men, so he was more than happy to pay book value. I took it home, and bought a fresh rebuilt 200 C.I. -6 from a Mustang restorer for, you got it, $200. I was on the road in no time.

WEll. I bought a 49 Lincoln cpe with a Cordova front clip and Mercury sheetmetal nd had it awhile and never did anythingiwth it, so I traded it for pretty sweet 34 Truck. Same story, I never got around to doing much with it so I had an opportunity to swap it for a 29 Ford roadster. I always wanted a roadster so I did it, and this year I'm finally getting some stuff done on it. Funny thing, I hauled the Merc from Nebraska to the first rest area in Okl on I-35 and made the swap with the 34 truck, and two years later, I hauled the 34 back to the same rest area and made the swap for the Model A. It's not going back to Oklahoma in my lifetime. By the way, both guys I traded with had their cars done before I got a good start. Now I have a nice old Harley Softail I'd like to swap for something....but please not to Oklahoma again.

In the early 80's, I traded my '75 Chevy Vega GT kammback for a friends '65 El Camino. He was going to college & I was needing a truck. I drove that Elky with a 350/3spd for 8 yrs & 50,000 miles.

  22. yes i finally thought of one, 2 bottles of boones farm [cheep wine $2.00 a bottle] for a 1965 chev impala, was kinda run down :(,another one that hit my big junkpile , that i sold for scrap, raced cars and needed a lot of spares and yes I did race a 1966 Impala 4 door and it was a great handling car, we called it the taxicab, just drive, place , and store until next week, they were a sturdy unit:D

dont get many people stoping in my driveway on the way to the junkyard anymore, bought many a car before they hit the scrapper and turned a lot of $$
I also sold a lot of my cars out of the driveway and walked home too!!!

Traded one of those ugly '38(?) Jaguar fiberglass repro's on a VW chassis for a 37k mile '68 VW bug with a/c, a '52 Buick Super woody wagon with decent wood, fair floors and a non-running but loose motor AND a '52 Buick Roadmaster convertible that needed some leather work inside (running/driving).
Don't care what happened to the bug, the woody is still with the guy I sold it to (25mi.away) and the ragtop went to Italy. Miss the hell out of the Buicks!

I have a bar and grill and I traded $200.00 in cheese burgers ( that would cost me about $50.00 in product)for a 1963 juke box and traded that for a old rusty 37 ford body and traded that for a cool 61 ford falcon 2 door wagon with no motor. Not the best finds but its all in a good days work.

I traded a 78 Caprice classic 4 door with 275K on it for a 31 Nash 4 door. It was gutted but I had all I needed to build a hot rod. I also traded a Glass 34 ford Kit car (not proud I owned it in the first place) for a running all steel 33 Chevy 3 window. Then I sold the 33 to buy my house & don't regret it but I sure do miss that car. It was a blast to drive.

  29. its not vintage but my BEST trade was i traded my pretty nicely built 79 gmc jimmy fullsize 2wd for a bagged 98 gmc pickup. not classic but it has very low miles and gets me were i need to go while im building my coupe.
