66 Chevy II, 4 flats and covered with bird crap. $50, after putting air in tires my friends pushed me home about 1/2 mile. Long story after that.........
1941 Plymouth Special Deluxe coupe painted black with a brush...rust all over..crap interior...gas gauge didn't work so I was always running out of gas my senior year in high school. Dad sent it off to get restored while I was in college. Turned out great after I seached and found all the missing parts. Named the car Priscilla after Evis wife, cause I thought she was beautiful. Dated my wife in it too...great car to make out in cause the bottom back seat folded up behind the back of the seat...all kinds of room back there. When I married my wife my dad sold the car...I wasn't making much money so I couldn't afford to buy it from him. The shoebox is a pretty good replacement (40 years later) but haven't made out with the wife in it yet..have to wait til this summer!!
Shit, The same 39 Ford that is in my Avitar, Drove it for a (very) little while in the late 90s with a 402 and a THM400, but other than that it has been a "project" since I was 14. I am 44 now, you do the math...
my first diving car was a 1970 3 door suburban i sold it at Pomona when i was 19teen i really kick myself in the ass for selling it .that was really the only thing i got from my dad in his will . my first car was a 1954 chevy truck i got it at 11 years old
It was a 1955 chevy belair 2 door hardtop which I bought for $495 in 1964.. It had 12,000 miles on it . I was 16 . I had just taken my drivers test and got my licence and walked the two blocks to the local Chevy dealer down the street with a pocket full of money I had made as a buss boy at our local steak house and bought my first car. Some older lady had just turned in this pristine 55 belair for a chevy nova . The 55 still had these plastic covers on the seats and not one dent or flaw anywhere on the car..it was perfect. I drove it off the lot and in a period of a couple of months I had put chrome rims on it and turned the white walls around. Put a custom grill on , put traction bars on it for the look since the car was pretty slow with the 265 and glide trany. It was a great car which I ended up trading straight across for a 1959 Belair which I wrecked . Anyway I wish I has either of those cars back but mostly the 55.
My first car is my 1931 Dodge Brothers 3 window business coupe. Got it from my dad in 1967 when I was 15. Still got it......
First vehicle and first rod built in high school before and after. Class of 1977. Pulled it out of blackberry bushes, paid $150.
68 VW baja bug with a link pin front beam, IRS rear, type 2 trans, and a pancake engine for kicks, and all the off road goodies i slowly would add over the next 4 years in high school ( would own a baja bug my whole life till couple years ago when i could no longer drive a stick).. great first set of wheels for a 15 year old ( cheap insurance, cheap gas, cheap parts, easy to work on with little tools. would not change it even if i was able to afford any car i wanted at 15.. that old bug tought me a lot about life it sure did ) who could not afford what all of us wanted 1969 ford F250. 4x4 stick etc.. growing up in the mountains of oregon in a small logging community, not many of us had cars.. just not practical.. cheers, chris.
1941 Chevy 2 door sedan my dad found at an auction when i was 2. Its sitting behind a street rod shop and hasn't run since the '80s and i hope to get it on the road someday after my truck is done.
1967 Chevy Nova 2-door hardtop, purchased in 1981, sold her in 1984, never got a chance to finish her, she started smoking and I was in college with no spare bread so I made a quick sale for $600.. regret it today...
I'm 12 years old when my uncle, who managed apartment buildings, stops by the house. He tells my dad that a tenant skipped out and left a 1939 Chrysler coupe in his garage; no motor, no title. Does my dad know anybody who would want it? Dad turns to me and says, "I think I do; Clark, do you want that car?" Damn near fell off my chair. We hauled it home the next day, and suddenly I was the coolest kid on the block.
Mine was a 57 chevy 2dr hdtp. It was a race car from 1957 to 1972 when my dad bought it, had some history, won the 62 AHRA winternationals in its class at Green Valley in Texas. Dad sold it to everyone of his brothers and got it back everytime. He gave it to me in 1973 and said I could have it if I promised to never sell it. I never did , I gave it to me oldest son when he was born. Bought my youngest son a hi-boy 55 belair 2dr hdtp when he was 3-4 years old, he's 22 now and still has it. Avatar car ......57 Bangert ,Raced at bonneville, shown at the Oakland Roadster Show in 58, that was my Dad's at one time also, I found it sitting behind a ford tractor dealership in Salina Ks in the 70's Tommy
