What was your first hot rod?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 2many projects, Feb 4, 2009.

  1. I think it was 1971 or 2 I bought my first car/hot rod...1959 Corvette, 283, 4 barrel, 4 speed, hard top, chrome reverse on the front, slot mags on the rear....$600

Been kicking myself for 40 years now for selling it in 1973.

I guess this would be my first "real Hot Rod ". Paid $600.00 for the body in 1978. Up and driving a year later.

    My Green Machine!

It truly was the beginning of my open road freedom! There was nowhere I couldn't go! The girls digged it and I loved it!

In 1968, bought a 37 chevy from a budy. Original 6 with dual carbs and split exhaust. I added a 3/4 cam from JC Whitney and went 3/4 fast

In 1974, that my father bought me one as a father and son project. When i was old enuff and started on it my father sold it...:(
In my 20´s i took Volvo Duett frames stuck a T bucket to it and built hotrod of it(funny but dangerus). Then the musclecar era stuck for 20 years, and still do in a way. Real A Ford last year, and then last but most life goal a real old 1932 Roadster(sure 27 body) but V8 and the history...

  16. My first car, got in 1958, was a '29 Ford cabriolet, was lightly rodded, keeping the four banger. It had two two's for a while, but they were too much for it. Next car was also a '29 ford, a Tudor. I pulled the MorDrop, hydraulic brakes Merc wheels and 5.60x15 & 8.20x15 BFG wide whites off the cabriolet to put on the Tudor. The Tudor also had a 327 Chevy. It was the first I really thought of as a hot rod. The cabriolet is the car I am currently building fifty some years later.

I've had several pre 64 cars or trucks, but my first actual hotrod is a 1934 ford pickup that I am currently working on

Well I've had my 33 for 40 years (post 60 with top) and I have been restless about it just sitting in storage... so, a temporary solution presented itself - I've agreed to loan it to the Gilmore Museum for two years... a great way to pospone any decisions on its fate and others can enjoy it! I'm a happy camper!
