Class of 2001. 1970 Mustang Mach 1. 351 Cleavland, shaker and sport slats. Parents gave it to me when I was 14 after it sat outside with a hole in the hood (open carb, lots of water in the cylinder) after it hit a telephone pole with the front end.
1978 Dasher. Wow man, I cant begin to describe the brutal acceleration that this beast was capable of. 1.6 litres of pure VW power hooked up to a 3 speed shushbox. It was horrifying every time I even THOUGHT of putting my foot on the accelerator pedal.
I had two rides in all my high school years, first was a 1950 plymonth 4 dr. sedan, second was a 1955 ford with a 292 and 3 on the floor. Dont miss the plymonth but wouldn't mind having back the '55 ford.
My first of many high school rides was this blue 1954 cushman eagle. The gold eagle is a 1957. Photo taken in 1964. I later graduated to this 1961 A7 BSA, mildly customized, and a blast to ride. Photo taken 1966.
My 1st was a 1957 2dr ht Belair.Light yellow white top yellow&black orignal interior.283 pg.This was in 1973.Traded a new 350 Honda for it to my uncle who had too many cars.Later (few years) he let me have his 66 GTO conv.389 3x2s 4 speed. He still helps me at the track when we race.Just traded my 1966 FED blown sb for a Yes you guessed it a yellow 57,it aint going nowhere.See FED under Gold Digger search. 52 yo and aint slowing down!!! Rick
Highschool was '55-56. Started with a 29 Ford coupe channeled with a stock banger. Next came a stock flathead ford. After attending the AHRA National Drags in Lawrenceville, Il. the coupes top was removed and a new chassis was built with dropped center Plymouth front axle, 330 cu in Olds with LaSalle box. Last picture was drags at Parks Field 1956. deChrome
First was 63 Falcon convertible; Ming green with 170 / FordOMatic; then 65 Malibu SS convertible; Danube blue / white top, with 327/300 and PG. Still have the Malibu.
I got this 65-Chevelle in the age of 16, graduated in -97. It was a nice car, painted in red primer with red wheels, 327 under hood. Traded it after school and later it was chopped, haven't heard anything about it for two years. I'm pretty sure it's still going strong. --mika
A 1970 Olds 442, silver with black racing stripes. 455, 400 trans and a posi out back. Sweet car, sure do miss it!!!!
My high school ride was a 1955 Stude (or was it a 1956? I just can't remember) into which we put a 352 Packard Engine. Turned 16.24 and 88 in the quarter mile.
I'm a senior. Here is my 69 F-100 it has a 390 .060 over, Edelbrock intake, Holley carb, mild cam, longtube headers with cutouts and thrush glasspacks. I got it going again a couple weeks ago and plan to drive it the rest of senior year I am working on a 51 F-1 with a 350/350. I might to get to drive it some before I graduate but I'm not sure. It needs all new brakes and some other stuff
My dad taught at an "old folks home" I was learning mechanics at the time and told the old ladies I'd work on their cars and go in halves on the parts if I could have the cars when they died or could no longer drive. Alot said OK! A lot honored the deal! I had Buicks, Cadilllacs, de Soto's, A La Salle, Packards. Man, if I had those cars now, I'd have more cars.
My first car was a 1967 Bug - Was a present for my 15th birthday and my dad and I did a full ground up restore to have it ready by the time I turned 16 and got my license. Throughout Highschool I had the following as well. 1985 Plymouth Voyager - My mom's old mini-van. I was stuck driving it because I sold the bug and bought a bike and a Porsche that needed a motor. 1979 Porsche 924 - Rebuilt the motor and did a paint job. 1991 Suzuki GS500 - sold the bug to buy it and then sold it to a friend to by the ninja. 1987 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 Hindsight is always 20/20...I had the opportunity to build with my dad a 31 Tudor sedan as my first car, but it was the height of the Boydster era and I couldn't see the potential in it. If I would have seen Mike Bishop's book back then I probably would have been all over it. Oh well, at least I still have the 31 to build, unfortunately its down the list of projects.
Shit brown 77 Firebord with a buick v6........and so much rust that about half the rear fender would practically fall right off if you gave it a little kick.
Found memories of that old Y block and the fold down rear seat. This was my first car (200.00) back in 1968 1959 country sedan. Close but mine was all green.
54 Chevy Belair...very rough and rusty but reliable and fun...drove it for 2 years and sold it...never used the keys and so my buddies all would borrow it and drive to the Dairy Queen by the school for lunch and would leave 50 or 60 cents in the ash tray for gas (gas was about a buck when I was in high school)
Mine was a 1956 F-100. 223 CI straight 6, 1 bbl Holley, 3-on-the-tree, armstrong power steering, manual choke and a dubious electrical system. We straightened the bodywork a bit, painted it a metallic green, ditched the stock 16.5 inch wheels in favor of G-60 15's in chrome reverse wheels. It looked cool, but a badly tuned Volkswagen bug could take me in an 1/8 mile drag race. Sold it in 1977 when I went into the Army. Dumb, dumb dumb.
My fist car was a 65 Mustang that I still have but never got to drive it to HS. My HS ride was a 73 Mustang Mach 1. It was a great car. Had enough power to get you in trouble but not enough to kill you. I would give anything to get that car back.
My first car was this 68 Chevelle 300 pillar coupe. It had a 305sbc with 2.5 flowmasters, T400, 12 Posi wiht 3.73s. It was a fun car. Then I put a Big Block 396 and a high stall converter in it a year after I graduated in 2000.
1971 Charger just like this one except it had stock steel wheels and dog dish hubcaps with Goodyear F-70's BW. Bought brand new between my junior and senior year. My dad would not let me buy a car unless I could pay cash for a new one plus insurance. He did not want me to buy someone elses problem and I think he did not want me to get my own car period. Worked my butt off in a grocery store and got it for $2950.00 out the door. The sales mgr asked my dad how my dad was going to pay for it and I reached in my pocket and pulled out a wad of 150 $20 bills. After that he was talking to me and not my dad. A year later I was letting my 16 year old girlfriend drive and she pulled out in a cross traffic does not stop intersection and it got T-Boned. I had a minor exlusion on my insurance so I had to eat it. Traded it in on a 1973 Baracuda. Now there are a few of life's lessons! At least she had nice boobs. (Read my signature)
