1985 I was restoring my 1965 Malibu SS convertible. That car ( $$$$$ ) got me into hot rodding.

Hmmmmmm, let's see, if my math is correct that would be 1985. I had a '56 Chevy 4-door 210. Six cylinder, 3 on-the-tree. I bought it at the Pomona swap meet. Never could get the damn thing to make any oil pressure.

I also had a '70 Monte Carlo daily driver. 350/350, ugly brown with a bad vinyl top but it started every day, ran well, and was comfy.

  3. Probably my '66 Starfire, but I could have had the olive green 250-6/3sp Granada by then... Plus I still had a '64 Impala 2drHT and a '53 New Yorker.

I always have an extra POS lying around.

20 years-ago I was driving a T-bucket powered by a Buick 350, real low to the ground with a 105" wheelbase, what a Riot to drive, kinda like a go-cart.

25 years-ago I was driving a '37 Chevy sedan in primer with a 250 6cyl, Offy intake and Carter 4 bbl., headers, with Crager wheels.

    30 years-ago I was driving a '66 Impala SS 427 street/strip car.

    35 years-ago I was drivng a '40 Ford with a 283 4 speed, in primer!
    40 years-ago I was drivng a Shwinn (sp?) bike !

20 years ago almost exactly. I was driving a 37 Ford 2 dr Sedan, Flathead with dual carbs. My daughter rode in a car seat in back with original moehair interior. Just found out this weekend from my daughter that I'm going to be a Grandpa for the first time.Time flys.

    Hmmm, 1985.

I was working at Kenz & Leslie selling parts and driving a 66 Impala SS 396, building a 67 Chevy II with a 383 small block, and helping a buddy wrench on his Top Alcohol dragster. Ahhh, those were the days...........

At least you won't ever hear "I wish I hadn't sold that car" from me.

  12. I was driving my first car, a 71 Cutlass (Oldsmobile family). It was also the car I learned bodywork on under the tuteledge of a family friend that was a killer bodyman.

I was also working on a 51 HenryJ, a huge project for me at the time.

hmm.. 20 years ago... that would be a 55 vw oval a inch off the ground with a 2180 buily by gene berg himself..cheep fast and easy!!!

  14. I was driving a '66 Kenworth Conventional, Mercury 60" sleeper, tall straight stacks, 4X4 trans, 4:33 rear gears and a 335 Cummins built to 380 specs, fuel pump by the great Terry Musatelli. That truck would throw a big ol' flame from the pipes and it would kill itself if you legged it too hard. Climbing the Grapevine at around 50 mph with 78,000#, it would put balls of rubber on the drive tires. Only three colors on that truck, black rubber parts, chrome and polished aluminum and competition yellow. Man, I even painted the frame and suspension yellow. It was a lot of work but it was a true hot rod. The owner-operator business shit the bed and I sold it in '85. Cheap.

I also had the '49 Olds that I'm working on now and a '69 Impala convert.

In '65 I had a '40 Ford DeLuxe coupe with a 59A flatty with Canadian Aluminum heads and 6" shackles in the front with 5:60x15s in front and 8:20s in the back. When you looked in the rear view mirror, you saw the back seat. In '65 (this will make some of you cry) you could find '40 Fords for $5 to $200 bucks. We used to chase roadrunners in the desert with the 4 doors 'til we rolled them just to get the flatheads. I'm not proud of that and I sure wish I had those old more doors today. Young and dumb, huh?

Well, I was playing with Anglia on some weekends and riding the shovelhead on the top right during the week and the rest of the weekends. I also had a beater Chevy pickup for a tow vehicle.
I still have the Anglia in pieces, planning on putting it back together "someday".

Huh. I was 15. Mostly got around on my rad bmx with so many band stickers on it ya couldn't see what it actually was (but it was a GT frame with a bunch of crap parts on it).

I was wrenchin' on a '66 Dodge van rustbucket tryin' to get it runnin' for the impending day of legal drivin'...but I gave up on it 'cause it had the big ol' turtle top camper on the roof. Just couldn't get past that thing. Loved the van hated the roof!

Ended up gettin' my first VW Squareback a year later...

50 Buick Sedanette, subbed with a Buick 455. Sold it to Twisted Okie who chopped it 4" and sold it to another guy in town who sold it to someone in New York. Heard he had finished it.

20 years ago I was riding a chopper bike similar to the one in the picture, but it was black and had a spider web mag on the back with a slick, and a gold rim up front with a skinny tire.
