Hey guys im in the middle of a 31 chrysler build and the damn thing has snow balled on me. It started out i was going to do enough to make it run and drive but it turned out the flat six was from the fortys with some stuck valves, and quite frankly i got enought flat sixes to play with i drive one to work every day but back to the story. I decided to do an old hemi and do old school hot rod so i bought a hemi off of the hamb got it home and it was junk from one end to the other, so i pouted for about a week. I got bored one morning and was scrolling thru the hamb and found an incredible buy on a aluminum headed blown 392.( I think it was a buy anyhow going to pull it apart to have a look see.) This motor is covered with aluminum parts, so my opinion its not really old school anymore. Ill post a few pics and you guys could tell me what you would call it. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks guys
That's a slippery slope, there....look at what happened to racer-x. He's running nitromethane in his now
Friggin cool is what I would call it !! You went balls deep with this one!!! Pfft! Flat heads six ! Lol
Its got a hemi.....so its a hot rod. Are you going to run the fenders on it? That frame looks really strong from the side.
Slap the wires back on, to keep it traditional, and start driving. Get as many pics of Garlits Swamp Rat 1, with 331, 354, 392 hemi and make your engine look like that. Dont have to do it all right now, over time, make it more traditional. That car ran from 1956-61. http://mooregoodink.com/swamp-rat-1-dragster-of-competitive-splendor/ https://garlits.com/portfolio-items/swamp-rats/page/4/
Nope no fenders, the frame has been trussed and boxed if you look close you can see all the truss weld heat marks
Its funny them wires must have been off of a different car they had wheel adaptors on them. I got some pics of garlits cars in his museum when i was down there
Kk thank you. Some guys are purest you know the wheels are shiney but that was really a money thing new for $300 a piece or vintage for $2000 a set. Wanted it to be as a young guy would have built it in the late 50's to mid 60's
I really don't care what you do as long as the fenders an hood go back on. What a great looking Coupe. Bob
Hmmmm what would I call it................... Fun, wow, perfect, awesome, comes to mind straight up. Flat six suddenly becomes blown 392. Are you related to my wife? Anything she buys seem to go the same route. Lol
I agree, it’d look better with fenders. That is one ugly frame! Those Chinese wheels didn’t help it much either.
Its your car, call it whatever you want to call it. What other people want to call it is unimportant. Personally, if it was mine, I'd just call it my car, and drive it everywhere. Gene
