I picked this up for cheap a while back. It's a 1934 chrysler airflow that has been converted into a pickup truck in the 1940's. it's surprisingly decent sheetmetal and the drivetrain and frame are all complete. No axles or wheels though. Originally, I thought it could be a cool roadster with a model a type back to it so that it would look a 1930's version of an audi tt but really, it could just be a cool truck. Right now I'm seriously broke but I'd love to see some ideas for this thing. I thought it was too cool to get crushed.

    I'd say Chrysler's version of a Ute.

You mention the frame being intact but I thought that Airflow's were a uni-body? I've seen some rodded and particularly the rare coupes make a interesting car. One thing about it, it couldn't get much worse (unless you do the "R" word on it.)

The woodie idea is great but it (wood) be expensive unless you are a high school wood shop teacher. I think that the Chevy cab (before '47) and bed idea is right on. Use the cab back with what you have. The Chevy rear fenders would even be a close match in style.

I think the unibody comment is correct too. The plus side to that is that there is very little, if any, wood in this body.

Let's see, first a V8, then some buckets, then some Radiars with Red Lines it would be cool,,,,,

No wait, we did that all ready...

If you could do something with the back of the cab, 067chevy is right on...

I agree get the back of a 40's truck(dodge or chevy or whatever you can find) and do the PU thing.
now if you wnt to tackle something really different:D:eek:
get a late 70's early 80's motorhome(van nose style) and cut the van part off and graph the airflow front to it and make yourself a one of a kind cl***y motorhome:cool:
thats just me, I'm a little crazy.
and whatever you do, PLEASE concider a mopar engine in it:cool: Ron...

here is a picture of one that is a little farther along than your...

I think I should Keith. Why is everything on the planet that comes my way a damned two seater?

Any luck on the AMC 360?

  21. There's a guy here that would give you a lot of clams for that. That guy is me. How would 2 bushels do? I'll throw in a bushel of oysters too so you can feel ***y about the deal.

i knew there was something i was supposed to talk to him about...we just picked up a ford 9-inch from him too. i will give him a call this evening. (i wrote it down). you could always small block chevy it( the gremlin)...i know someone with a 350/350 combo....

  24. This must be a bigger version than the car, but a car hauler would be cool. You could make a towmobile or a motorcycle hauler with the car. Is this the next art challenge?

    Thanks,
    Kurt

Man, that sure is a nice looking truck. Maybe a smaller pickup version would be pretty nice looking as well. You would have to be a pretty decent designer and metal worker to match the level of refinement of that truck though. But, using this one to follow would be a great start.

If you have an extra heater or front bumper bracket laying around that you want to get rid of , keep me in mind.

How about a Roadster Pickup Airflow? That'd be different.

Use the body panels on a late Chev truck ch***is with a Mopar engine for a brilliant parts getter or tow rig with a 'Art Nuoveau' theme.. I would say the uni bod is shot any way after being cut into a ute.
Dean moon started something like this Mercedes Transporter using a 59 Chev front ,

    Yawn ...

I think that car deserves nothing short of a Chrysler FirePower.
