That Texico tanker looks tre kool. $$$! Since you've gotta go low buck, make the most of what you've got. Why not do it as it is, utes rule.

I did a four door several years ago with no fenders chopped and slammed, they look great without the fenders, with the grille and lights together in the nose. build a short bed, big n litles and slam it chop the top about 4 inches . if you were near me id buy it in a heartbeat for just that........

Scoob, Scoob, Scoob- What are we going to do with you? Do you really need to ask?

Look, would Ron Popeil ask what to do about his greying and balding hair? Hell no, he'd proudly paint that silver dome with black spray paint on national TV. You know why? Because it's what we expect him to do. It's what we want him to do. It's what he's genetically programmed to do.

Therefore, since you are Scoob, there is only one answer

The only drivetrain I've got handy is the Galaxie 289 and 3 speed manual ******. It also has a nine inch rear that is w-i-d-e. I really didn't have a plan when I bought it. I just had money one day and it scared me so I thought it best to get rid of it. This is the result.

build it as a pick up!

  7. I think the best bang for the buck would be a pickup, and round up an early Hemi of some sort for the powerplant. Or even soup up a Chrysler six. But it doesn't have to be a 392 or anything, a 331 would surely move that right along.

I do tend to think an Airflow truck would be smooth, like some of the flower cars were back in the day - the bed sides would match up to the doors and carry the beltline to the back of the truck. Not stick out like the tanker truck, just match the doors and have the stock sedan fenders at the back of it, sort of like if it had originally been a sedan delivery and someone cut the top off to make that into a pickup. You'd have to make that up from scratch, but it shouldn't be nearly as bad as trying to fab up a sedan delivery rear body for it.

So all you really need is a mid 30s Mopar 4 door sedan (or better yet a 2 door sedan) to donate the back 1/2 and make it back into a sedan, or move your front clip to a run of the mill car. The mini tanker style truck would be cool, but would require a good metal guy to pull it off. If it were mine, I'd build something from scratch using the front clip, I've always likes that nose.

Any way, it would be fun. Gene

Stash it, collect more parts to make a complete body, sell all the driveline and interior remainders to resto guys, then build a Bonneville car to whoop *** on all the Ford body styles of that vintage.
    Hemi powered, of course.

If you have an extra heater or front bumper bracket laying around that you want to get rid of , keep me in mind.

I'll check and see if they are any good. I'm planning to sell off all of the engine, transmission, pedals, and stuff that isn't needed. Knowing me, the whole thing will end up for sale because I'll find something else that I absolutely can't live without for about 24 hours.

A true ute with stock fenders front and rear, stock rear fender skirts, rear of top and back window finished to look like Chrysler did it themselves, body carried back as slab sided bed (think '31 Model A Ford 66A). Hyper Pak slant six (Clifford just today told me they're taking orders for another run of manifolds) with an overdrive A833 4 speed bolted in, or an A500 OD auto adapted to the six if you can't work three pedals. Absolutely wouldn't *******ize it with a foreign (non MOPAR) drivetrain.

First, I would chop the top. Then i would section it to bring the whole thing just a bit lower so a pickup bed would blend into the back better. Then, I would take it and my fab my extra 59 Plymouth quarters into a pickup bed.

Although I really like the woody idea :)

Just a start... Everything has potential if you have time.

Three miles of topic but I would love to have one of those!

That tanker idea would be an awesome way to go with that airflow. I love those cars and they were way ahead of their time.

people may hate me for saying this, but some of the cooler volksrods come to mind when i look at this thing. i picture a serious sectioning/channeling, lose the front fenders and rock a dropped axle way out in front... it'd be a lot of work to do this thing, no matter what route you decide, but its worth saving, and has personality for miles..

I'm picking this up on the way back home. Is the straight 8 out of this worth a damn to anyone or should I just pluck the carb and leave it.?
