Picked up this little gem last weekend and i was wondering what you guys would do with it. Stock 29 Briggs leatherback sedan, car is all there but the motor is locked up. Body is damn near perfect but has rot in the cowls. Brakes and kingpins were redone back in the 70's when the car was put away in a basement until i pulled it out.

So what would you do with this?

  2. That thing looks REALLY clean! I think the fact that it's a multi-door makes it cooler than a sedan. Full fenders, no hood, dual quad pontiac, duece grille (done to death, but still looks great). 5'' chop, raked, big n little wide whites w/ 15x6 chrome reverse wheels. White tuck n roll. '69 GM "lemans blue" w/ a white firewall. Thanks for asking.

    Well thats a given

I was thinking keep the stock 4 banger, new lions head, some type of intake for a holley (maybe home made), reverse eye springs, wide fives with juice brakes, dark green with mint? wheels. And off with the top? Phaeton style...

  7. cool find. amazing how the stuff just keeps popping up.

  8. I would make it full fendered. Modify the rear doors like a B-400 so the window frame is not rectangular. Chop it 3 inches with a fabric top over a solid frame. Kinda like a sport coupe. Wheel choice would be steelies with caps. Thin whitewalls. Maroon would be a good color with a black top. Keep the Model A grill shell for sure.

I've always loved the leatherback and blindback Model A body styles, and have never seen a good hot rod done using one. I'd do this:

    Mild chop -- maybe 2 1/2"
    Nicely tailored soft top
    Full fendered
    Deuce grille
    Side mounts
16" Kelseys, big & little tires -- maybe wide whites
Full hood -- use whatever engine floats your boat. I'd use some kinda small block.
Dark color: maroon, dark green, black

Nice find! Lots of wood inside those bodies and the wood kit is one of the most expensive. Looks like something was modified out back, rear pan is at an angle and the side brackets are non stock, may have been an addon trunk mount. I'm sending you a PM. Bob

  14. I'd do stock bodied with a slight rake...rubber rake at that. speed parts on the stock banger and make a neat lil driver.

  17. I would chop it, leave the side doors frame and no roof or a convertible roof.

    Doc.

Well i already have a stock looking full fendered 31 murray sedan but all really cool ideas.

And yes, that wheel is red. Its just an extra column that came with the car. The wheel in the car is black so it is a 29.

    I would;

Get it titled, running and driveable.
Bolt on all the fenders, lights, etc.
Find some early wire wheels for it.
Clean it up. Leave the paint as is (don't cover it with primer!).

Trade it straight across to a Model A restorer (take it to a Model A meet)for a coupe or roadster body!

That's just me though as I'm more of a coupe guy. It would make a neat Hot Rod, but seein that you have a Murray 31 sedan...
