Definitely not the textbook answer, but I would have slowly spun it over with a breaker bar feeling for any resistance. If I felt none, I would have slapped a strong magnet to the oil pan near the drain, and pulled it off before each oil change, hoping that one day the set screw would flush out. But I will admit, sometimes tactics like this bite me in the ass.
........ and then the very next post is.......??? I'm going to go with 'No, a lot just jump in without finding out what's going on!!!'
I knew it was resolved. That was clearly stated. I simply was stating how I would have proceeded. So, if you or anyone else is suggesting I can't read, well, can you not understand the flow of a conversation?
The magnet idea was definitely a good one...... at post #4. Then at post #12, and again at #19..... and 22, 31, 40, 41, and 52.... and then once again at post #64 (this one is you). By the way you use the English language, I am sure that you can read. I just don't think you did read. Big difference...... And we were just having some fun. You can get down out of your tree now.....
Good save. You did the right thing. Now you can rest easy, untill you fire it. LOL. Then if you are like most of us, you will be on edge again. Thats the normal emotion, I think.
