Technical What would you guys do?

I would pull the pan & retrieve it; just so I could sleep good not wondering where it might end up.

 

Can you remove the oil pan? .

Definitely not the textbook answer, but I would have slowly spun it over with a breaker bar feeling for any resistance. If I felt none, I would have slapped a strong magnet to the oil pan near the drain, and pulled it off before each oil change, hoping that one day the set screw would flush out. But I will admit, sometimes tactics like this bite me in the ass.

 

Good reminder for me to quit being a hack

I knew it was resolved. That was clearly stated. I simply was stating how I would have proceeded. So, if you or anyone else is suggesting I can't read, well, can you not understand the flow of a conversation?

 

And that should be obvious with the "would have", not "I would"

 

The magnet idea was definitely a good one...... at post #4.

By the way you use the English language, I am sure that you can read. I just don't think you did read.
