what yall think of doin this.....good or bad idea?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Flat Black 60, Jun 10, 2004.

  1. hey, I doubt you guys have noticed but I havent been able to post for a while...I was visiting relatives for 2 weeks. Anyways I was wonderin about what yall would think about this. Im thinkin about takin a 1.5 ton Ford flatbed cab and throwin it on some homemade rails, and throwin the flatty in with it. I was wonderin if yall could tell me if that would be wise. The reason Im thinkin this is because I thought that all cabs were the same dimensions on all 1/2 through 1.5 or whatevefr ton they made. Also could someone post plans or tell me where to get plans to build a frame for it. I alos plan on buildin the box. but I dont need plans for thay. I prefer a frame with mono leaf but i guess parallel woiuld work too.
    thanks for all your help.

  4. I'm so glad you're back... this place has been an absolute BORE without you here!

Now, about the question... I don't think it would be wise at this point to tackle such a large project... first get yerself acquainted with basic suspension knowledge... welding and FABRICATION skills... build a few smaller things and then tackle the large stuff.

  5. My 33 started life as a ton&1/2. As far as building the chassis, it depends on your skill level, and the tools you have. There are plans avalible, but I'm not using any.

Just because I have only posted 40 some times you think I have no skills. I have already built a truck, and fabricated my own motor mounts, SUSPENSION, and modified some of the body. Dont jsut go****umin things. but thanks for your help anyway

A few details in your profile might go a long way to refamiliarise folk with your good self when you've been out of circulation for a while.
