At a shift I did today I seen a 1963 stingray that I thought was pretty kool

 

Had ...the word is HAD... and WISH, i still had mine back.

 

I like the kidneys on it!

 

That's special....especially the kidneys.

 

There was a roached out actual split window 'Vette at Carlisle. $49K would get you a builder. I wanted to wash it and drive it, fender flares and all.

Hello,

In So Cal, a long and winding roadway to O’neill Regional Park is a very cool drive. Sometimes it can be very crowded with the weekend crowds. Saturday, it was not that bad, early on before lunch. As you start from the hustle and bustle of El Toro Road and the I-5, things start to change. It becomes more serene and peaceful as the countryside starts to show up. Of course, there is the famous Cook’s Corner, favorite stop for hot rodders and bikers.

This is the end of El Toro and the beginning of the split into Santiago Road going north to Lake Irvine and Live Oak Canyon Rd. to O’neill Park. But the rest of the way to O’neill Park goes through some countryside growth.

Once away from this split, it is a curvy drive to O’neill Park past typical back woods Orange County areas. In the summer, it is a fire hazard, but in the winter and spring, it is a great drive through some nice countryside growth. Halfway to the park, there is a road to a church and another to a monastery. Both places have similar ideals, but the monastery has this easy, peaceful, feeling about the whole grounds.

The grounds are open for the public and they expect everyone to follow their rules while on the property. It is slightly eerie with the abundance of silence while walking around and feel guilty about whispering. But, it is a gathering place for some serenity for everyone.

This journey had a bunch of old time cars in the parking lot. Some of The Model T Club of Orange County cars made a stopover before heading to or from the O’neill Park for a weekend gathering. They are exceptionally nice cars. (and they followed the rules with fairly quiet running…)

 

Seen this 5 window pull up out the window of our cafe today, turned out to be the Grandparents of one of our employees.

 

I went to look at a bandsaw to buy today and saw this.

A couple of bi-motor Alfa Romeo/Ferrari grand prix cars I saw at the Alfa Romeo museum in Milan. Not exactly hot rods, however hopefully will not be scorned by you gearhead hoodlums! TEB

This fresh 1940 Ford deluxe coupe showed up in the drive way....

 

I only see it in his driveway, so probably shouldn't post a pic, but there's a guy a couple of blocks down who has a early-mid 40s International pickup hot rod.

 

Saw these today....three little Studes all in a row....

 

You guys are lucky, I only saw a bunch if newish Harleys today, and a notchback 5.0 with a healthy cam, yawn.
I may take the long way home so I can drive by a "sitting and rotting" truck.

I work a few miles from ground zero for the Stray Kat 500. So, lots of cool shit.

Saw this little gem the other day

 

Hello,

Friday, I was invited to attend a preview of a car museum opening in Long Beach. So, a 120 mile round trip through Lakewood, (the 405 freeway was littered with CHP Explorer SUVs slowing down every one both ways…) down the same Long Beach streets that we used to cruise in 1960-66, and seeing my old local junior college, did wonders for my memory banks.

But, as I got closer to the main cruising grounds in Bixby Knolls, I had to see the old Cherry Avenue drags location again. The two cemeteries on both sides were still functioning…In the daytime, it looks normal, but it was eerie back then, late at night.

For a prospective: A quarter mile measured street location with a ½ mile shut off area before any cross streets…
I could not help myself to just try out that old feeling again. It did not matter what car you were in, 53 years of old-time memories came flooding through instantly. That old feeling just did not go away. So, a mild run down the street instantly brought back those dark, late Friday night, high school drag races on this lonely road…(it was not lonely except during this photo shoot. During the day, timing is everything…)

Afterwards? The shut down? Perfect, The surrounding looks for the CHP or “local LEOs?” Perfect, The easy, peaceful feeling driving away from this location…Fantastic! Actually, it was just catching up to a few cars. No local laws were broken, no speeding other than a normal acceleration. We can’t drive 55…in my mind… We are all law abiding citizens these days. But, it was the location, the empty road, two cemeteries, and the “ka-ching” in the memory banks; that flooded the good, old brain cells once again. That may be the last time ever, so it was good.
