Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by wingnutz, Mar 2, 2004.

  1. Last year there was a lot of activity in the Garages of many HAMBr's..., and I was just wondering "Who's building a car for this years HAMB drags...? [IMG]

Which cars that made it to last years "drags" are going to make it this years??? [IMG]

I'm guessing your planning to make the drags?....see thats where we'll meet up. Whats the drive from cheeseland?

  3. Looks like we're drivin the Warpig Chrysler. But ya never know. May have a super secrete go getter in the mix. When the sun is setting on MOKAN look in front of you, that's what we're gettin ready for the drags. [IMG]

I'll be driving my 49 Chevy (aka:"Punch Drunk") to the Drags. Won't be the FASTEST ride there, but I'll make a few passes and line 'er up for some "grudge matches" against any 216/235 powered Chevys that wanna have a go!!!

hehe - if i have a mini chopper finished i'll be lucky...work and family make it hard to get garage time....think they'll let us drag mini's?

I don't know any of the kontinentals. I met one or two at the vintage drags. I hope to meet a few more at their roundup. would be fun for all the Texas HAMBers to meet up in Dallas and cruise up together.

I am bringing a Slant 6 Mopar just in case any of those Kelvinators show up again. I will run the old truck again too as it is some faster this year and there is a guy from the east coast that I need to beat.

Guy from the east coast?? Hope that's not me....

WZ JUNK, if you breathed on that Chevvie any at all you'll take me. I have actually de-tuned mine a touch.

The Henry J might make it, but to get it there (2500 mile round trip)I will have to swap the cam, converter and gearset. If I do all that, I won't be much of a threat on the strip.

Same damn pic of my car.....-Abone.

  12. It's a highly guarded secret. I heard there were some really fast Ramblers there last year so we figured we would bring some detroit iron to compete [IMG] [IMG]

  13. Well- I know it looks hopelessly INSANE-to insinuate I will be there insomething new....My plan is to be there driving my 57 Chevy Suburban Towing my 31 Model A roadster with 409 chevy engine. [IMG]thats right-Im nuts!

I am just a little faster but if you ran the same as last year, I think I could beat you. I want to build a tow bar for the Dart and pull it with the truck. I do not plan on painting the Dart. I told my wife I needed a catchy name for the side of the car, she suggested "For Sale". I am looking forward to you making the trip again and I hope we can visit some after I avenge my loss.

Flamed Ahole are you still trying to drive that Henry J all that way? Surely some of your buddies would have a trailer...ya don't wanna break then have no ride home.

This year I'm takin a year off racing my car. It's gonna be sportin a stock flathead 6 popper until next year when it gets a 389, 4 speed. I plan on attending with my car but I won't be racing...too far home to break.
I wonder if Fatasswhitewalls will compete with my old Kelvinator........

Even though I live in Missouri I intend on trailering mine. If I am going to bring it down there, its gonna get thrashed hard. I don't want to have to worry about getting it home with the rearend shelled out of it, or a rod hanging out the side of the block...

Still working on this. No good reason I shouldn't be driving it by then.

  22. Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make it this year... I'm still recuperating from last year!

But in '05 or '06 we'll be there... I may drive the Roach Rod out to blow FlamedAboner's doors off... and Terry and the BFD crew is planning on putting together a Gasser... should be cool.
    Sam.

  23. I'll be working on the new owner of my Pontiac slingshot to get it down there. In fact, I may have to drive it again....he may have a health thing that could prevent him from doing it.

Okay, I've had my head up my ass the last couple of months while I put on the model show that finally went down a couple of weekends ago - how much time do I have to get the GasRambler ready?

Yep,it's now on the car. I haven't started it yet cause I wanted the rtv to set up good before I busted it off. I had the t/c off and I don't want any leaks.

So you are coming right? No lame-o excuses a week before about your grandma's birthday party etc etc.

Root. Yep, whatever I show up in, it will have to do a 2500 mile round trip. That's the rub of a STREET car. If the Drags were held in S. Carolina, I would load her with 4.88 gears, the big cam and the sloppy converter, and would be "the fastest car in the valley."

So, a guy has to balance being able to make it home (1300 miles one way) with out leaving parts on the track and being fast...

All that being said, IF the Henry J makes it, I'll have to pussify her so much, she will maybe run a mid 13....

So, I guess, fast is relative...

I don't give a fuck what I'm drivin, or how fast I go, I WILL be there. The HAMB Drags was the most fun I have EVER had with hot rods.

    See ya there, -Abone.
