I think it looks good, looks classy. not to start a pop corn worth fight here or go off topic, but do you think one of these would be approriate for an older import? I have a lot of one off unusual stuff and most people haven't even seen a car like mine in years. still done nicely of course nothing cheesy. car is done in a clean classy way,and i would want the sign to be the same.

Show cards--I agree wholely with Dean--have been around since car shows began--have several on my garage wall too. Sometimes at outdoor shows I also use a very small one (9X12") on the windshield to answer folks questions and give credit to those who helped. Have done this for 35+ years.

Unfortunately, to a lot of younger traditionalists, being an a$$hole is the new flat black. "Respect" was either never learned or is thought of as uncool. This isn't just about Show Cards, this is about how people respond to threads in general. With even just a little bit of respect, they can express their opinion without exposing their ignorance. Cutting other peple down is the only way small-minded people can prop themselves up. Guys, if you're not going to have respect for other people, then have a little self-respect because you sound like idiots when you spout off like that.

& I'll third what Dean said.Seems to me a show card for a kool ride is a darn sight more traditional than rust'n'license plate floors?

saw one last weekend at a local show we were walking through , we had to laugh out loud, in front of a 62 impala nothing special driver, had all this bla, bla bla, then the best "Starbird Show winner" , another one was a jacked up new something with what looked like 30 inch rubber band tires , boom boom stereo, DVD player everywhere , smelled like a French Whore house and he even had his trophies displayed with it but the funny thing was if you look close at the trophies it was apparent he either stold them or got them from some pawn shop , classes were all different and some dated older than the car.!

Someone likes 'em. Some asshat liked Gene Winfield's showcard for his Caddy so much he walked off with it at a Indy Goodguys event a few years back.

Old thread, interesting and useful discussion.

  10. I agree Dean, everybody who wasn't there, back in the day, now knows how things were and aren't afraid to tell others what to do.

  11. I look at them all the time in search for originality, creativity, style and use of graphics. Comes from my putting together boards for our T-bird club displays giving the car's history, options, some interesting historical period facts, etc., all with a central theme. One that made me nearly vomit, though, was at an outdoor show in downtown Fremont this summer. Some goldchainer attempted to make an OT clone of the '68 "Bullit" Mustang, then had the chutzpah to photochop his face over the iconic image from the movie of Steve McQueen, right arm raised and leaning against something with a turtle neck and shoulder holster. Talk about selfie-promotion...

  12. See 8 years ago nobody would have said this. ( I miss the old hamb)
    But 6 years ago ,,,,well
& today everyone thinks & acts it's a new problem, it's damn near traditional.

: a person who thinks she or he is better than everyone else and who does not work well as part of a team or group.

    Now what's a pre Madonna.
Would that be someone prior to Madonna's 1981 solo debut or pre Madonna ?

Or something much older prior to Mr Angelo's sculpture or pre Madonna

Sorry Friday tequila , couldn't help myself :)

I'm not an OLD FART I'm only 67, but I like to see something if the car has something unusual so it can be pointed out. Also if the car has some cool history.

I agree that show cards and build books are good to have near car, hopefully not in front
I don't stand around all day next to my cars and answers questions about restoration.
I like to give credit to the machinist for metal work or upholstery guys for work.

I am usually roaming the area, asking question and looking at build books, admiring the works of others, not putting down their accomplishments.

    Two problems.
    1. They get screwed up.
    2. I change my car every winter.
    Good Luck
