    I do that every weekend....

Had to drive to the Big D for a wedding.
But spent most of Sunday finishing on my new shop. Got fairly new cabinets from my father-in-laws kitchen remodel up in there. Anyone have a shop with Corian countertops? Bling bling, bring on the MTV Shops show.

I got my garage cleaned, then I had to hange the pads on my father inlaws Honda Accord ( ugh).

Then I started to make the frame parts for my step notch. I got a new battery and positive cable put in and I started to bag the front of my 51 Chevy.

Was out of town most of the weekend, but managed to get the Jamco rear sway bar under my '50 Ford even though it's obviously not designed for the offset of a 9" center section. Cleaned and painted the control arms that I'm putting on tonight.
Since it's chocolate egg weekend I may actually have the time to get this car back on the ground

Did a little detail work on my dad's car on saturday, and then took my heap for a ride. Went to a swap meet with flatheadpete, and made some extra $$$, and got to see 62wagon, primer, and a host of other non-HAMB friends. But the highlight of the weekend, was to see HotRodtoHell at the swap meet, along with his dad. Just a little over a month ago, I was worried if his father would even survive his accident, but to see him walking around in such great spirits, and looking great, is simply amazing!!!!

    Thanks GREAT news Jdubbya!

I spent the weekend working on my kitchen remodel. Sanded and primed cabinet doors and put a coat of primer on the ceiling. Roadstar's been helping with some sheetrock and plaster work. Nasty work but will look AWESOME when done. I'm doing the kitchen with a "garage" theme. Will post photos when completed. Hopefully this weekend......well except for the new floor I guess.

Saturday nite we attended the Michigan Hot Rod Assoc annual banquet and had a very nice time. 7 local car clubs make us the MHRA which has been around for over 50 years. Got a chance to chat and catch up with HAMBer Harms Way and a couple of other local legends.

After dinner on Sunday I spent quite a bit of time in the garage cleaning off the workbench and straightening up the floor. It's hard to believe I let it get so bad.

I puttered mostly. I'm at the end of reorganizing my garage, and got the last of the lights and shelves up. Now I just have to break it to the kids that there's no room for their Barbie car or their bikes!
Oh, and I sat in my car for the first time in what feels like months, and just wallowed in the ambiance. Now to get it on the road!

Got my Caddy into Gambino Kustoms here in San Jose so that Alex can lay some paint down on it. Worked at Alex's shop on Saturday removing trim, in preparation. I'll post pics along the way as soon as I get notable results going...

On Sunday changed oil and began getting the '60 Chevy Wagon for its trip to Vegas. Leaving SJ on Wednesday night. Praying for the rain to pass....

Finished the frame, mounted gas tank and installed a drop down the battery box. Worked a little under the cab.
    It was a good weekend.

  17. mine was eventful. Went to a local show with the A-truck. Got mobbed by old Hod Rodders, let them sit in the truck and take pictures...That was cool by the way :)

Got home to find out I might have a blown head gasket....fixed some electrical issues on the truck....dreading if I might have a cracked flatty block, or just needing new gaskets. :( Keep your fingers crossed.

Cool thing about the weekend, a Local HAMB'er stepped up and gave me another 8BA and 3 speed toploader. :) I hope its a good one.

hey this sounds really goofy but next time you try to remove a pilot bearing, fill the center of the bearing with heavy grease and then get a punch or wooden dowel that fits tight into the bearing and hammer it out. this really works

I finally had a weekend with my cars, got the '52 Olds running (found out it needs a radiator) but it runs real nice... cleaned out the inside of wasps nests and mouse droppings... swapped seats from a '79 Caddy into it (havent bolted them down, but they are test-fitting real nicely)... wirebrushed a few spots on the body and hit it with white Rustoleum primer so I could attach the tailight assemblies, hood ornament, and Olds logo on the front... had a ball. Had two nice days here this weekend for a change, got a lot of little shit done... damn I miss a garage.

Oh, and did you know that 1952 Oldsmobiles had the same wheel-bolt pattern as a 1979 Caddy? Well, now you know! I stole one from the caddy to see if I could replace a ratty one on the olds, and I'll be damned if it didn't bolt right up... so I yanked it back off, scrubbed it down, primered it and hit it with the only paint color I had three cans laying around of - flourescent Lime Green - muahaahaa! A multi colored, surface rusted Olds fourdoor with big white primer spots and flourescent green wheels! My neighbors wonder what I'm smokin'.

Yeah, that was the first thing I did. I tried every dowel, drift, and punch I could find, but nothing fit quite snugly enough. I even tried using grease-soaked paper towels as wadding. It didn't even budge.

  24. Louvered a 54 Chevy hood, Laid out 46 Pontiac hood, Dug up and planted 30 3' white pines. Put 315 mi on da 32 going to Hot rod 101 in Addison IL ( awsome time by the way) GOOD WEEKEND !

ACTUALLY, that's not goofy at all! In my Diesel Mechanics class, that's the EXACT way they taught us to do it. It's also the ASE Certified way of doing it.

    Who'da thunk it!:D

Wasted some time looking around for a Chrysler donor before giving up and deciding to run what I already have.

Got the tranny pulled from the donor van, should be ready to pull the engine Tuesday evening. Gotta check to see if it's possible to set the 700R4 up to run a regular speedometer instead of an electric one.

Took a kid to a car show- it was like history repeating itself. Made the annual trip to Kool April Nights in Redding - unfortunately didn't have the '57 Effie roadworthy in time, got alot of wiring to still do on it -, took a beloved 12 year old to his first car show, he met some very generous rodders that invited him to try their Bucket T on for size. Red with simple black scallops, it's a rod from the 60's and a wicked top. He was all grins. Took me back to the Western Nats. in Bakersfield '88 when a Modesto rodder had a Milner replica, which blew my 14-yr. old spirits sky high, and was just as generous, cruising me around the Kern Co. Fairgrounds in it.
Today we hopped around town getting event posters from businesses. Sounds goofy, but it was a new experience for him that he caught on quick to, and was big on doing the asking. I had him go into a Kragen with my car club coat on (an old 76 station shop coat), it sounded like he got a bewildered response that yielded no poster. Eventually we scored more of 'em, but had a ball in the process, just messin' with people.
Unfortunately I won't make it to the newer show in Anderson later this month, gonna aim for my first trip to the Paso cruise.
Anyway: a memorable time, this weekend. Hey Purple: I owe ya one!

  30. Ms. Detonator's vacationing in AZ, so I did a three day thrash. Blew the car totally apart, finished welding and griding all the brackets and tabs on the chassis. Also finished all the welding and grinding on the firewall. Mocked up and fabbed the front kick panels and their brackets. Finished all the dash and electrical mounts, blah blah blah -- and delivered all the parts and pieces today to the guy that's going to paint it. WHEW... I'm beat, but I'm stoked. Might make Father's Day after all. Wish me luck.
