What'd you learn to drive in?

A Simca 1000 in 1985 at the age of 16. Still like them but most of them have rotten away.

Dad's old 41 chevy pickup...216 with a non-syrcro 4 speed. I can drive anything now!

 

Mowed a lot of lawns and delivered a lot of papers. At 14 years old I bought an early 28 Ford sport coupe. Paid $85.00 for it. I learned to drive in it. Then I discovered hopped up bangers and quickly learned how to change transmissions in a Model A.

 

1965 Rambler 440 4dr sedan high school drivers ed.

 

1960 Ford full size fairlane, 6 cyl, 3 on the tree, 2dr post.

 

1950 Willys 2 WD S/W

 

Ferguson 35 tractor.

 

I bet no one will guess what this car is my dad taught me to drive in. (Around spring of '62).

 

60 ford truck 3 on the tree with overdrive .... would pop out of second.

in the 80's , its not THE car, but the same color and bodystyle, in the Netherlands [emoji16]

 

1956 GMC 1/2 ton pickup...my dad followed me down the driveway, and I put it into reverse by accident, and ran into him spinning tires backwards...all I saw was hand gestures pointed at me and his mouth moving in the rearview mirror!-----I did eventually get it into 1st, and spun gravel all over his windshield driving away...I was grounded for a month!

 

I learned to drive in and also got my license in my parents' '65 Ford wagon. A couple of months later my dad showed me how to drive a stick in his '62 VW bug convertible. I knew then that I was a stick shift guy and 5 of my first 6 cars over the next several years had manual transmissions....

Sitting around in about 1975 working on this very topic, we all contributed and then the only lady present, Joanna D., stopped us all by saying, "I learned in my dad's Franklin".
Hard to top that one.
