A while back Ryan posted pages from an old Almquist catalog,Google search said about 5-6 years ago Ed Almquist still rode around in his roadster. There is a fair amount of history about Ed Almquist online,if you saw the pages of that catalog they offered a lot of cams, and manifolds under their own brand name for vintage engines, what ever happened to the molds they were made from? and has anyone found these Almquist parts at swap meets etc? In the early 60's I bought from those catalogs and Honest Charlie with my bucks working in the local drive-inns.
1953 catalog 57-58 catalog. I think the general perception back then was that these were cheap copies of the high performance parts with the bigger names. They may have been just as good. I had a 2-2 flathead intake with some cool looking ribs between the carbs. They made 2 different styles. I have no idea what happened to their tooling.
I was hoping some folks in Pa. might check out Google and try to track Ed down and chat with Him,with his background it would be interesting. We have lost a lot of legends as of late it would be a shame to just let things go till it's too late.
Ed Almquist is alive and well, still in ****ord. I had a long chat with him last March at the Amilia Isle show.
