I'm just looking for some thoughts on this, I have a 59 ElCamino with a 427. It has a Moroso 7 quart oil pan, and ****** Super Comp headers with a 2 1/16" primary tube size. I have a little more than 1/2" clearance between th tube and the oil pan after bottoming out. This seems to close to me. should I wrap it, or keep running it?

1/2" shouldn't cause any heat issues to speak of. Wouldn't worry about it personally

    Ditto there!

  4. As long as there is an air gap you should be good.

Any air gap is fine. But what is moving when you bottom it out? Neither pan nor header she be moving in relation to one another regardless of suspension travel.

Thanks guys. My road is so bad, when I bottom out, its on the headers. Hoping the airshocks have cured that.

your oil is always on the move while your engine is running, and it's getting a lot hotter in the engine than a thinwall exhaust tube is going to make it with a ½" gap.

Put snubbers somewhere in your suspension to prevent excess travel. You won't hit the ground anymore.
