im gonna take my 58 to have a new exhaust system put on because the old inline 6 one is no longer good obviously, but i was wondering, how much would it cost for making brand new pipes that run from the exhaust manifold and both make a bend over the axle, then out the back? plus im thinking of having side pipes put in it to. would anyone know a good price of what i can expect and know how much money i should start saving up for the exhaust system, (price with the side pipe option and price without it) please and thanks guys
about $425 here for duals on a 40 Ford coupe--over the axle, out he back but NO TIPS--tucked up under corners of fenders like Tri Five Chevys were stock
well in Northern Minnesnowta I always charged $250 for duals, and the competetion was $200, and I did not like the alignment on rods and refused them BUT THIS AIN'T CALIFORNY so expect a bigger bill and you can get mandrel bends, and they is gonna cost MUCH MORE, they make a system for a patern and then throw it away after feeding the angles in to the computer and turn the bender loose with the program and we aint got much for mandrell benders in MN, but see them in the exhaust magazines telling how they do it in CA
Any replies you get here are going to irrelevant based on the wide variation in pricing on such things-especially across the country. Look in your local Yellow Pages (or Yellow Book) and check out muffler shops. There's got to be a bunch of them in your area. Visit several and get a quote.
Can't speculate on an "average' price. My neighbor just had a dual system with glasspacs out to the rear bumper, from exhaust manifolds back.. 289 bucks. Had my 03 Dodge dualled out with Flowmasters, 269 bucks. Depends where you are.Neihbors was a 3/4 ton Chevy 4WD.
How about $20? I have dual pipes in a 57 Ranchero that I am just going to scrap. It had a yblock in it. Maybe the mufflers are good. U pick up.
