I just helped a friend put Hooker Super Comps on his '56. The fit was horrendous, and they don't match at the collectors. Measuring the collector height from the ground we found one side was 1.5" higher than the other. Thought it might be motor mounts, but both are new.
Once we removed most of the trailing edge of the inner fenders, then they cleared, so if you're putting them in with no inner fenders, or removing the back half of the inner fender, then they don't have clearance issues.
For nearly $500 I'd buy something else that was cheaper and fit as poorly.

The absolute best would be Stahl's, followed by Hooker adjustables. Butch/56sedandelivery.

I got mine through Cliff's Classic Chevrolet in Portland, Or. He has a guy who still has the bucks from back in the 60's make them. They were a little pricey, around $450, but they are thick and mandrel bent with very thick flanges. They fit great and clear everything except a power booster and the lower heater core goes straight into the header. I did have to trim the firewall braces just a bit.

    Good luck in you search!

    Later,

    Mike

i got e-bay specials on my small block 55. guy builds them in his garage (check my build thread in sig. i think there's an email address for the guy in there). $420.00 to my door. they were well built, nice flanges, 1&3/4" pipe into 3&1/2" collectors, fit PERFECT & are symmetrical.

I will never run stahl's again. Horrible experience. I had hooker fenderwells on a mild 302 back in the 80's and they fit good, but I understand them to be hit or miss.

On dads 55 we put Patriots we bought at danchuk. I forgot the price, i think it was close to 400 works perfect with the side motor mounts and the clutch linkage works nicely.

Doug's are cheaper and still good headers but if you can spring the bones for the Hooker Super comps , I would go that way . Much better header by far !

  22. Does Hooker actually make fenderwell headers for a '55 with a big block?? I can't find them at Summit, Jegs, or even on Hooker's website. I have a cool t-shirt from Hooker headers that has a big block '55 gasser with fenderwell headers on it, surely they must make them if they put them on a t-shirt...lol ??

Wow, seems everyone has different experience with all of the trifive fenderwell header manufacturers. Wild wild west when a guy goes here. I guess I just became a gambler.

hooker adjustables like mine or Jerry Stahls I read where Jerry says the primary tubes size should be comparable to what the exhaust valve size is if you get a big cubic inch sbc maybe that would change.

Which model Hookers are those and what was your process of getting them white? I have a 55 belair. I like how yours hugs the fender. I seem some that are too close to the tires.

These are 2102HKR, The hooker Big block fenderwell headers come real close to the tires with A-Arm front suspension
