whats better holley or edelbrock?

I love my edelbrocks! I use an electric fuel pump in my T and never have any issues. You just can't beat the realiability and simplicity. They are super easy to tune as well. I have used other carbs, but always come back to edelbrock.

 

Just now getting a chance to look back at this thread. The spacer/heat shield suggestion worked great. I hated having to spend the extra money initially but will make it part of the purchase on any new carbs from now on (regardless of brand).

I have Holleys, Rochesters, Edelbrocks and even had a NOS Carter 95000 series and all of them worked great until some problem occurred due to wear, miles, bad gas, etc. Like anything you have to learn your product and work with it.

When I am talking to anyone who busts on a particular carb I look at their shoes to see if they have those velcro strap closures on them. I figure if they can't learn to tune a carb, they probably have trouble with shoe strings also.

Quick Fuel is the best for a bolt on , but if you have half a brain , it's holley

eddy is a cruiser carb

 

There no gaskets below thw fuel line in an AFB no leaks for a street car I get better mileage with an AFB. If I have the choise I think the qualty control is better in the Carter than the Edelbrock.

 

I'm partial to Holleys since they are what I started with and got used to. Parts are easy to obtain, they're simple enough and versatile.

I have 3 that I keep boxed up if they aren't in use. When I need one, take it out, throw a gasket kit into it and I'm good to go. They always go into the box emptied out and cleaned up.

i had to raise up some of the edelbrocks and put in insulators and blocks so they dont boil fuel on shut down and i also run fuel regulators on them set at 4.5 pd. they sure are good hiway cruisers and get decent mileage with little tinkering. I just bought a couple of 500 CFM edels and want to try them on cruising cars one thing that I NOTICE IS HOW NICE THEY RUN AT LOW SPEEDS and the transisition to cruising they never have a tendency to die at least on a fairly stock engine
I only run one Holley and thats on a heavily camed SBC and put in a quick fuel plate and that was the cats meow to more fuel at low speed and driveability. just got a car with a high comp 455 Olds and want to try a Holley, got a 750DP and want to do a different fuel plate and maybee main body i do have a benchfull of Holley parts and can build them mostly from pieces. 18 year of stock cars caused a Holley learning curve and they DO TURN OUT THE POWER and sometimes the milleage is OK too

I really dont think most relize how much you have to do to learn how to tune and adjust carbs for specialized applications, and how much parts and stuff you need to stock to do it
the first time i did it on a heavily camed stock car with 283 and powerglide i spent 2 days first day it would not get to the shop door the end of 2nd day it burned rubber way out the door, and with that experience you can get most anything to do that and work decent

so if you have no experience on tuning carbs its gonna take time, a book or two and investment in parts needed and then you willl succed

yes there will be failures but thats all in the advancement fo knowledge
