What's doin' inside your garage tonight?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 2many projects, Oct 18, 2008.

  1. The Lincoln needs a new gas filter and I've got to clean some electical connections to the starter and starter solenoid.
The '36 needs the exhaust finished up tonight before my wife will drive it.
And the '32?...................... It needs everything!
Should keep me busy while switching channels between the Red Sox game and watching Barrett-Jackson's auction.
It's gonna be a fun Saturday night at home!

Beer's chilled in the fridge guys............door's open for anybody around here this fine Saturday night.

I'm in the process of parting my '65 'backup' Chrysler to make room for two 'new' '57 cars underway to my garage.
The '62 wagon in front of the camera is waiting inline to take it's place on one of the carlifts for a much needed brake-service/upgrading to discs.
The '60 NewYorker on the right carlift just had it's transmission dipstick sealed again with a new O-ring and will be getting it's beefed and balanced driveshaft installed again soon. It's 496ci motor will also be opened up shortly after that to receive a nice roller cam.

  9. FIORANO............................Go with the hard lines.
It will be good practice for you and will be much safer in the long run.
When I first plumbed my '36, each line took me 3 or 4 tries before I got it right.
Don't use chrome juntion blocks like I did.
They require ridiculous amounts of torque to tighten up and they will probably still leak on you.
Plain old raw br*** is the way to go.
I used a RIGID tubing bender and RIGID fare tool. Nice quality items, never failed me.
Also DOT 5 , silicone fluid worked well for me although it is a little more difficult to bleed that stuff.
It doesnt screw up your paint though when it drips on the wrong places.

use the hard lines they take a little practice but there not that hard and a shelf edge works good for bending

Garage is pretty much closed up for the winter. -10C here already and no heater/insulation in the garage, plus there's not enough room in it to do the things I need to do to the truck. :(

  30. well glad to see this post up again.............today first day of really good hard work on the lil beast.....(can ya tell i like that, king???)..........rockers came yesterday and i started cutting and installing the left outter tonite..2 peices ..inner and outter...found out where theres lead filling in it, in front of the left rocker...thought i burnt straight thru when i clicked the mig.......finding out how solid the topolino is for 70 years worth...have to rebuild the "frame" around the front doors down at the lowest front part up 2 inches on both sides..and gonna add new metal at rear attachment point of rocker inside of the wheel wells, both are solid, but distorted from time....made me think of the guys who welded it all together the first time..and how many have welded on it over the years..retired drag car...tomorrow it's finish the skelton of door lowers and install left inner..then hopefully get started on the right side with the outter rocker...still trying to get a portable guy over to weld up the hairpins and rest of the front end tabs...rear kick and almost a roller after that.......then body mount and start flooring...
