I did a search and didnt come up with anything on it..I plan fine fitting and tig welding or gas welding "**** welding"all my work.So this seems to be the best avenue for slicing sheet metal on a chop and that sort of thing. I really like the green 3m little wheels but the price! I got some cheap off ebay and they cut but man they wear out super fast and there is dust all over...what do you guys like and where you buying them from,,,thanks jim

I have bought them 10 for two bucks at a swap meet and they are gone in no time. Go to the welding store and buy the good stuff, pay the price and forget about it. Its the cost of doing business.

The later HF ones I have bought have been holding up fairly well. I bought some name brand a couple months ago and they were not noticably different. Probably which Chinese sweat shop they bought from this month.

We only use 3M as they don`t come apart and last longer than anything else we`ve tried. I do believe I`ve bought those from every manufacturer that makes `em.
    3M discs aren`t cheap. $20 for 5-pak.

Find some Falcon abrasive's cutoffs (www.falconabrasive.com). Way cheaper tham 3m and Walter, USA made, and last just as long. Their premium cutoffs are made with 3m cubitron and are pricey but work real well on stainless. Check their website for a dealer ....

I use 3M or Norton Abrasives wheels. Sometimes the ones you get at HF are ok, mostly not...they don't last.

I was just shopping for some more wheels, so funny you bring this topic up. I usually go to the local welding supply store and buy the cheapest 3 inch wheels they have. I have paid as little as 95 cents each and as much as $1.75 a piece. You can find a good deal on Ebay from time to time as well. What is everyone paying each?

I get the 20 pack at HF with a 25% off coupon. I have been using them for over 10 years with great results. If your air tool doesn't spin them fast, they will wear quickly. This is true for any of the abrasive wheels.

I use a 90 degree pneumatic tool. Not all of these spin fast enough.

Ive had real good luck with the 4" from the local Ace Hardware store, pack of 5 for less than ten bucks, seen to last a little longer than 3M.

3M you get what you pay for. When you look at how much longer they last compared to the Chinese junk it cost you more to use the cheap stuff, also look at the safety issues. A cut off wheel flying apart and paieces flying near you face is never fun. PLEASE WEAR A SHIELD AND SAFETY GL***ES!!!!!

We quit using the Sait discs the centres pull out of them (may have been a bad batch) we use Walter or 3m. Everything we work on is stainless mostly 316. Also if a cut takes 4 sait discs I can do 2 with one Walter.

Me too, they are thin and slice right thru sheet steel. Wear good and cheap. CP's made in russia. If the blade is too thick it tries to burn on top instead of cutting. And yes, spin the **** out of them. Lippy

3m . HF IF I'm in a bind on a Sunday and my supply house is closed. They don't last as long. I've even used the DeWalt brand.

never had any luck with the little wheels on a die grinder
    i use 5'' or 6'' wheels in a 4'' angle grinder.
i have a couple of grinders so i don't have to change wheels all the time

i buy my cutoff wheels at the local industrial supply
they usually have sait, HD also carries sait but they cost $1 there
