   I was looking at some springs for a car today and it had the good old California cancer warning on it, like everything else on earth.... Lol. I thought to myself "I'm not gonna eat um...."

   Looks like lacquer cracking. Lots of old cars that have been re painted a few times with lacquer do that. All you can do is strip it down to bare metal and start over.
