Got this little project and want to keep the motor and peddle the rest to a rat rodder... hopping the manual bellhousing will pay for another automatic trans... can you guys tell me what it's worth... Someone adapted a jeep or something trans to it. Bellhousing, clutch, and flywheel and starter are all together.
from what I see the engine and bellhousing are all I would keep is the bellhousing one meant for a secondary plate adapter? I did have one at one time, it had a protruding lip at the input opening.. whatever.. Beachcomber is about right at $300 of course me being an absolute cheapskate I would never pay that much for a used one, if I was looking. if it were mine I'd throw it on the pile till I needed it.
Depending on the Jeep it could take Ford toploader, GM pattern, or who knows what. I'd check it out and go from there. Jeeps seemed to use whatever trans they could buy cheapest in a given year.
If it were a 215, it would be real good money. If it's a Jeep trans it might be a t-90 (I think???) which is the same as a T-5 GM pattern. Could be good money.
Yep I'll get some more pics of the trans and y'all can figure out what I got then!!! Thanks for the help! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
looks just like my old one, made the steel plate adapter myself to put a Chevy transmission behind a 394 tried to find a picture but back then it was all Kodak Instamatic and I didn't stop to take a lot of pictures
The adapter is a TransDapt. As mentioned, dis-assembly should tell you what it fit originally. There's also part number on it....JC-something....if it's JC-25, it's Olds to Chevy pattern. I've seen these for a bunch of different transmissions. Some more info here... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=140319
