So i was talking to my next door neighbor yesterday and he was talking about his car that he might sell and i asked him what does he want for it. he has no idea what the thing is worth and neither do i. So maybe you guys can help me out. It is a 4 door 1947 Lincoln and he says it has a straight 12. So do any of you guys no the value of this thing. He also said it runs and has no rust, interior is clean and the body is staight with no dings. Well i was just wondering. Thanks Jake
he probably meant V-12 not straight 12.. try picking up and "Old Car Price Guide".. or check ebay and see what they have sold for recently.. "Value" is determined by the seller, "What it's Worth" is determined by the buyer.. something to ponder..
forget imagining the torque...imagine the hood length. Go to the local bookstore, grab a copy of Hemmings Motor News and page through the Lincoln section....never mind...I just opened up my fresh September issue and all they have is Continentals, coupes and ragtops. Nary a 4 door in the whole two pages. There's much more collector interest in the 41 - 48 Continentals and the Lincoln 2dr coupes. You'll have to maybe get on line and check with a Lincoln Owners Club to see what you can find out. Price for any older car is predicated on condition (physical and operational), rarity of the particular model, and an idea of collector interest (supply and demand). Four door sedans are not as popular as the other styles and models, so you should be able to negotiate for a reasonable price. Research before you engage in any meaningful discussions - you'll be fair to the seller and you'll be a smarter buyer. dj
I'm sure they just recessed the firewall...You just change the rear 6 plugs by removing a dog house on the inside..
For possibly the 100th time, all anything is ever worth is whatever the "market will bear";....or, whatever you and/or someone else is willing to pay for it.
probably less than one would think. While I really like these old tanks, the recent downturn in the economy has impacted the "less popular" models greatly.
A list I looked at said between $6,500 for a runner to $32,500 for a real cream-puff. We have guys in Fresno. Click the link below take a look...
What is it worth to you....that is the Question you need to figure out, our estimates don't amount to a hill of beans, whose been pricing beans lately anyway?
If it runs, I'd say $300 for the motor, $50 for the trans, and $1000 for the body. That isn't a collectors estimate, or even a pro-ford idea. I wouldn't buy it, but I think that is respectable in my own personal mind, but it don't work so well anymore.
Things you think of when you have too much time on your hands, I was figuring on hookin' two 223s that I have hangin' around together end to end and cut the firewall out of one of the trucks we have laying around. Just for something to do, still might, you never know.
Never...never...never make a seller an offer. Sellers set the price first. Buyer than has some choices. Buy...negotiate...walk away.
