The chop. This is my first build. I've studied chops for a loooong time and thought about chopping this even as I was dragging it home. After it sitting in the garage for a couple years I finally said fuck it. Made some measurements, laid some tape and grabbed the sawzall. Forty-five miutes later my wife was helping me lift the roof off.

Granted, it's still only about 3/4 finished after starting it a year and a half ago, but it's straight and right. I'm pretty proud of it. I've had several guys who know a think or two tell me I did good, including our own Earl Shieb. That makes me feel really good about my work.

my 31 chev: i am definitely most proud of the step we did at the front of the frame. the "z" portion is hidden under the cowl and looks pretty slick. even more important, we nailed the stance.

my 54 truck: the drivetrain. 350 engine, 700R4 trans, 4:11 rear.i haven't fired it up yet, but i did A LOT of homework and expect to be very pleased every day

most of my truck im pretty proud of but the top things are the garnish moldings for the doors that blend into the 57 ford dash, custom made dash knobs with hidden key, bed lower panels with matching body line to the lower body, rockers flush with bottom of frame and boxed, working tailgate on 3" channeled bed with hidden cables in the u channel

the list could go on for all the little trick I am putting in this truck.

  14. My favorite part of my 28 Ford Roadster is the 40 Ford dash. Me and a friend have about 9 hours of fitting it and another buddy of mine has aobut 9 hours of body work into it. I think it turned out great.

    the Racefab built smallblock

Probably that part where I cut something off and replaced it with something that didn't belong, but it is what I had, and it worked.

  18. Dashboards & steering wheels really get my attention. If I'm going be looking at 'em every mile I drive, I'm going to give 'em a lot of thought during the build.

I think Henry's designers just about nailed it with my '38's dash/wheel. I don't know how much time/$$ I had in my RPU's dash & steering wheel but I loved 'em.

I can't wait to show what I have planned for my 32 7wd.....

My headlight stands. I don't have any pictures but I can say I've never seen a set that works anything like them. Built with tubing, a MIG welder, and a few old Ford forgings that I thought fit that part.

They mount behind the front spring on the bobbed frame rails and extend past the axle to put the lights out where they need to be with the wheels and nose.

Removable with two bolts each - I've had them off several times and never had to re-aim my headlights. Someday I'll give them the level of finish they deserve.

Probably my odometer. I put a lot of miles on my car since it's my daily... year-round. I'm pretty proud of that.

I also like the combination of Buick and Pontiac stainless on the sides... and my 4-speed.

On the 32 it was the exhaust.

The new roadster is still just a pile of parts. But some of them are pretty cool

  25. the best part on my car is! it was made in America and I can post it on the H.A.M.B board without firguring out how many C.C.'S the new motor is going to have. (Sorry about that, just read the M.G and Lotus Posts)
I like the fact that the 354 Hemi in my 48 ford was installed in 1958. and the 331 cad in 54 GMC was installed in 1967. I even like the 270 dodge hemi is going into my 52 plymouth wagon in 2006

the steering wheel on my speedster. came of an old race car (has the drivers name hand etched into it.) i hand wrapped the whole thing in cord and varnished it. everytime i grab hold of it i smile and feel real happy. the car maybe sold one day, but i am going to be buried with that steering wheel.

The part on Big Olds that I am personally most proud of is the cover under the hood that goes from the nose to the radiator. It had a curved access panel that wasn't needed, so I fabed up a piece to cover the hole, then I welded it in, grinded it smooth, filled, sanded, primed, sealed, painted and cleared.....ALL BY MYSELF from start to finish.

I did other welding on the car and other painting, and lots of sanding, all stuff that I'm proud of, BUT this is one piece that I'm exceptionally proud of because I did it all myself. Lots of the other stuff I had help with.

The sights, smells, sounds and feelings that all scream that I'm driving an old, high-performance automobile.
